“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Rest is not a failure, but an essential feature of our walk with he Lord. It honors Him when we plan for rest, quiet time, and moments in His presence.

"Let us not grow weary of doing good.” Galatians 6:9

He sees your efforts! The patient moments with your toddler, the busy fall season, the long conversations with someone pouring out their heart. Stay the course, it pleases our loving Father when we pursue goodness each day.

A liturgy for welcoming fall by Lydia Kinne

"Oh Lord, creator of time and space,
You are a God of rhythm and cycles.
You delight in patterns of nature,
The ebb and flow of which point us to you.

As mornings begin to chill
And leaves start to fade to gold and amber,
Summer’s warmth begins to slip away
Replaced by autumn’s cool touch.

We feel the call to slow down
As the seasonal changes remind us
Of harvest, provision, abundance, coziness,
All gifts from our heavenly Father.

And just as leaves fall and winds blow,
One season of life gives way to a new one—
Painful sometimes in the letting go,
Aching in the adjustment to something different.

Still, you show us how beautiful
Change and dying can be—
You remind us that all seasons must end,
To give way to the next one that we need.

And just as the dead leaf must spiral down,
Its summer of abundance over,
So too I must die to self,
Trusting you’ll bring new life from this sacrifice.

So, as I wrap up warm on rainy days,
Light candles on gloomy afternoons,
Drive past canvases of color on tree-lined streets,
And stir bubbling pots of soup on stovetops,

May I be reminded of the warmth of your nearness
In seasons of change.
May I find joy in new shades of meaning,
And may I light up corners of my world with your hope.

Let my heart be stirred to trust you more, Lord,
As you lead me from one season to the next."
