Ocean's Water

Ocean's Water Ocean is an 11-year-old eco-activist and the inaugural Junior Shoreline Ambassador for Ocean Wise. Ocean's Water is a nonprofit committed to ocean conservation.

Ocean’s Water Org acknowledges our role as settlers in this land on Turtle Island. We are grateful to be able to live and work on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat Peoples. We recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and the Inuit peoples. We recognize th

e injustices of colonization and how we, as settlers, have directly benefitted from a colonial culture that has overseen the genocide, systematic oppression, and exploitation of Indigenous peoples. We commit to working toward safe, inclusive, just, equitable and healthy communities for all.

In their first mother-son collaboration, Ocean (Founder, Ocean's Water) and his mom Lara (Founder, Sky's the Limit Youth Organization) joined The Green Herons’ turtle parade, an event spotlighting the organization’s life-saving work to protect turtle hatchlings across the Niagara region.

The group of enthusiastic youth eco-activists put up signage, marked turtle-crossing hot zones, and raised awareness about keeping both hatchlings and mature turtles safe from local traffic.

Ocean was grateful for the opportunity to take action alongside his fellow young changemakers. He also did double duty as a Sky’s the Limit volunteer, donating five laptops to The Green Herons to support their vital environmental work.

Based in the Niagara region, The Green Herons create purpose and leadership opportunities for young people by supporting youth-inspired projects that protect natural spaces and native species. From youth education programs to hands-on conservation work, they’re building the next generation of environmental stewards. Learn more and get involved at www.thegreenherons.org.

Founded by Ocean when he was just four years old, Ocean’s Water is a youth-led organization dedicated to ocean conservation and inspiring young people to protect marine life and shorelines. Through community cleanups, awareness campaigns, and grassroots action, Ocean and his volunteers are proving that small actions add up to big impact. Learn more at www.oceanswater.org.

Sky’s the Limit Youth Organization is a registered Canadian charity that provides refurbished laptops to youth who need them, with more than 5,700 computers placed to date. Working alongside community partners that deliver STEM and technology training, Sky’s the Limit helps young people access the tools and skills they need to thrive. Learn more at www.stlonline.org.

Happy Earth Day from Ocean's Water!

Ocean celebrated Earth Day with action by leading his biggest cleanup to date!

Ocean and 250 fellow students from Grades 4–8 removed more than 800 pieces of trash from the community surrounding their school. The amount they collected weighed approximately 400 pounds!

Some of the waste had already started breaking down into smaller pieces, including microplastics that can harm wildlife and the environment.

Here’s some of what they found:
~275 plastic items
~160 wrappers and bags
~100 cigarette butts
~45 hazardous items
~50 foam items
~170 other mixed trash items

Thank you to the students, teachers, and volunteers of Ocean’s school for helping protect our community and our planet.

A special thank you to Ocean’s homeroom teacher who organized the volunteers and helped sort and inventory the trash.

At Ocean’s Water, every day is World Water Day!💧

This year’s World Water Day (March 22) theme is Water and Gender, recognizing that billions of people still don’t have access to safe water and that women and girls are disproportionately affected by water scarcity.

Ocean spent part of his day planning upcoming beach cleanups for spring and summer 2026, continuing his work to reduce single-use plastic and protect marine life. Every piece of plastic removed is one less threat to our oceans.

Stay tuned for our Earth Day and World Oceans Day initiatives 💧

Happy 90th Birthday to one of Ocean’s environmental heroes, David Suzuki 💚

Last week, Ocean had the incredible opportunity to see What You Won’t Do for Love, an intimate and inspiring live theatre experience by David Suzuki and Tara Cullis Suzuki, produced by Why Not Theatre, that reflects on their life, love, and shared commitment to protecting the planet.

This felt especially meaningful as we thought back to June 2023, when Ocean had the chance to connect with David, Tara, and Severn Suzuki. He shared his mission to reduce single-use plastic, talked about the importance of youth voices and his passion for beach cleanups. It was a really special full-circle moment.

David Suzuki’s lifelong dedication to protecting our planet has inspired generations and continues to inspire Ocean’s journey every day.

We are so grateful for his voice, his leadership, and his legacy.

Happy 90th, Dr. Suzuki 🌎

“Together we CAN, together we WILL, together we MUST save the World!” - Dr. Jane Goodall

Ocean was grateful for the opportunity to attend “An Evening With Jane Goodall” in Toronto in 2023.

Dr. Goodall spoke about hope and the importance of working with young people to slow down climate change and the loss of biodiversity, adding that the two are inextricably linked.

Oceans Water is excited to be a part of the Roots & Shoots program.

Dr. Jane Goodall started Roots & Shoots over 30 years ago when she met with some young people who were eager to fix local problems. She was struck by their energy, their optimism, and their willingness to tackle crises they didn’t create. Roots & Shoots helps young people harness this energy and become the community leaders not just of tomorrow, but of today. Today, Roots & Shoots is a globally-recognized youth leadership program. In Canada, over 12,000 young people are actively involved in projects. Over 80,000 community members are being directly impacted.
