The College of Dietitians of Ontario was founded in 1991 through the Dietetics Act, and became a regulatory body on December 31, 1993. Its mandate under the Regulated Health Professions Act, and the Dietetics Act, is to regulate the profession of dietitians in Ontario in the interest of the public and public protection. The College sets and enforces standards for the qualifications, registration, continuing competence, conduct and ethics of Registered Dietitians in Ontario. We assist people in Ontario to access RD services and handle their questions and concerns. There are approximately 3600 Registered Dietitians in Ontario.

Make sure you give yourself enough time to complete the renewal process, your SDL tool and pay your fees before the deadline. Canadian Malnutrition Awareness Week is October 5-9, 2026. The Canadian Malnutrition Task Force aims to reduce malnutrition across all health care sectors by facilitating research and knowledge creation, disseminating evidence-based knowledge, collaborating with stakeholders and advocating for food and nutrition care practices.

CDO has received inquiries regarding the diagnosis of malnutrition in hospitals following recent changes to CIHI's malnutrition coding. To support practice, the College has published guidance: collegeofdietitians.org/learning-hub/professional-practice/can-dietitians-diagnose-malnutrition/

La Semaine canadienne de sensibilisation à la malnutrition aura lieu du 6 au 10 octobre 2025. Le Groupe de travail canadien sur la malnutrition vise à réduire la malnutrition dans tous les secteurs des soins de santé en facilitant la recherche et l’acquisition de connaissances, en diffusant des données probantes, en collaborant avec les acteurs du milieu et en plaidant en faveur de pratiques exemplaires en matière de soins alimentaires et nutritionnels.

L’ODO a reçu des demandes de renseignements concernant le diagnostic de malnutrition dans les hôpitaux à la suite des récentes modifications apportées au codage de la malnutrition de l’ICIS.
