Ontario Science Centre thank you for supporting our Autism parents summit😍. 🚀 Keeping curiosity alive while parents learn 💙
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Ontario Science Centre for bringing such engaging and inspiring activities to our Autism Parents Summit.
While parents were fully participating in the sessions, nearly 30 children were in a safe, joyful space of their own—exploring, creating, and learning through science and space-themed activities.
✨ What made this so special:
- Children were not just supervised—they were engaged and inspired
- They had the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and enjoy hands-on experiences
- The space felt fun, safe, and inclusive—just as it should
Because of your team, parents were able to be present, knowing their children were not only cared for, but truly enjoying themselves.
This kind of support makes a real difference. It allows families to participate fully, without worry—and it shows what inclusive community events can look like.
Thank you for sparking curiosity, creating joy, and supporting our families in such a meaningful way. 💫

💙 Grateful for educators who shift how we see our children 💙
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Anju Pundeer, Special Education Teacher from Park Lane Public School, for her thoughtful and empowering session:
“Practical Tools for Everyday Challenges.”
Anju’s presentation was not only practical—it was deeply reassuring and uplifting for parents. She reminded us of something many parents needed to hear:
✨ You are doing a great job.
She also challenged many of our assumptions in the most powerful way.
So often, as parents, we worry that our children may not be able to do certain things. But Anju gently shifted that perspective:
✨ Our children are capable.
Sometimes, it is not about ability—but about opportunity, support, and expectations.
As parents, we help set the tone. And when that is combined with the right strategies from educators and specialists, our children can grow in ways we may not have imagined.
Through her guidance, she emphasized:
- Taking small steps, one day at a time
- Allowing space to pause and take breaks
- Staying consistent, even when progress feels slow
- Finding a balance between expectations and effort
Her words brought comfort, confidence, and a renewed sense of possibility.
We also want to express our heartfelt appreciation to Sutapa Majumdar, Vice Principal of Park Lane Public School, for her presence and support. Your leadership and dedication reflect the kind of school partnership that truly uplifts families.
Together, your commitment to inclusive education and your belief in every child’s potential are what help build stronger, more compassionate learning environments.
Thank you both for helping us see our children—not through limits, but through possibilities. 💫

💙 A heartfelt thank you to Munira Khilji 💙
We want to take a moment to sincerely thank Munira for her powerful and deeply meaningful presentation:
“Perspectives on Autism: Let’s Talk About Neurodiversity and Culture.”
What made this session so impactful was not just the knowledge shared—but the way it was presented. So many of the ideas felt familiar, yet hearing them through a different lens made them truly eye-opening for both parents and service providers.
Munira helped us reflect on something essential:
✨ That understanding autism cannot be separated from understanding culture, identity, and lived experiences
She reminded us that:
- When parents know their rights and feel confident to exercise them—even in the face of barriers—change begins
- When service providers listen with openness and make an effort to understand different cultural perspectives—services become more responsive, respectful, and effective
This is what real progress looks like.
Not just services being delivered—but relationships being built.
Not just support being offered—but trust being created.
Your presentation sparked important conversations, deep reflection, and a stronger commitment from all of us to do better—for our families, and for our communities.
Thank you, Munira, for your wisdom, your perspective, and your heart.
You helped us all see a little more clearly. 💫

Wrapped in kindness, warm and bright,
Toys and smiles, a pure delight.
Little hands, big hearts too,
This joy is shared — because of you.
Our Wrapped in Kindness: Toys, Treats & Winter Warmth for Every Child event was truly heart-warming.Thanks to our incredible donors, volunteers, families, and partners, toy distribution went wonderfully — the smiles, laughter, and excitement from the children filled the room, and the turnout was amazing.
Seeing our kids so happy, feeling included and celebrated, reminded us why this community is so special. None of this would be possible without your continued generosity and support — year after year, you show up with kindness and care. 🎁🧣🧁
We are not done yet.At this moment, we still have over 20 families on our waitlist, representing more than 70 children, and we truly wish to reach every single one of them.
If you are able to continue donating toys, winter accessories, or make a small financial contribution, please do by emailing to [email protected]. Every gift matters, and every act of kindness brings us closer to reaching all children. Thank you for believing in inclusion, dignity, and community care.Let’s keep the kindness going.

Recently, Ayub had the opportunity to visit his former school, Park Lane Public School, during their open house. He graduated three years ago, but the joy on his face that day reminded us how deeply this school remains part of his world. He remembered every classroom, every hallway, and every teacher. Our volunteers said, “It was Ayub’s day” — all the attention, all the smiles, all the care were for him. His excitement and happiness were truly unforgettable.
Moments like this also remind us how rare and precious schools like Park Lane are for students like Ayub — nonverbal autistic individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex sensory needs. Not all adult day programs are able to provide the same level of sensory-informed, individualized, and compassionate support that these schools offer. The post-21 transition remains one of the hardest periods for families to navigate, often leaving them searching for environments where their loved ones can truly feel understood and safe.
I am deeply grateful to the dedicated staff and the principal of Park Lane Public School for continuing to welcome Ayub back from time to time and for holding space for him with such kindness and respect. Your work matters more than words can express. Thank you for being a place of belonging — not just during school years, but beyond them. 💙
With gratitude, Shakhlo.

I think this was the most meaningful trip ever! Our group recently visited the Aga Khan Museum to test the new sensory backpacks designed to support neurodiverse children and families. We are very pleased to share that our overall experience was positive, and the children genuinely enjoyed using the items provided. These backpacks are a thoughtful step toward creating a more inclusive and accessible environment.

⭐ What’s Inside the Backpack & How Each Item Helps:

🎧 Noise-canceling headphones
These were extremely useful in areas with echo, crowd noise, or sudden sounds. Many neurodiverse children feel more regulated when auditory input is reduced, and the headphones allowed them to enjoy the exhibits calmly.

🧸 Fidget toys
The variety of fidgets helped children self-regulate while walking through the galleries. Items like stress balls, pop fidgets, or tactile toys allowed them to stay engaged and focused without becoming overwhelmed.

🎨 Crayons, markers, and drawing pages
These offered an excellent way for children to take sensory breaks. Having an activity they can do quietly helps them decompress in moments of overstimulation. The themed drawing pages were a beautiful way to connect the museum’s content with creative expression.

🧻 Wipes
A very thoughtful addition. Wipes help with quick clean-ups, sticky hands, or small spills—especially useful for sensory-seeking children who may explore materials more actively.

While we found the sensory backpacks very beneficial, we recommended a few environment-based improvements that would greatly enhance the experience for children and families:

🪑 More seating options throughout the museum: Beanbag chairs, Soft cushions, Small sofas or low seating. These allow children to take breaks when they feel overwhelmed, especially those who prefer sensory-friendly seating.

🧘 Soft mats in certain rooms
Some neurodiverse children feel most regulated sitting directly on the floor. Providing soft mats or carpeted zones would allow them to relax safely while still engaging with the space.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the sensory backpack initiative. The children enjoyed the items, felt more comfortable navigating the museum, and were able to stay engaged for longer periods. This is a meaningful step forward in making cultural institutions more accessible to neurodiverse visitors.

We truly appreciate the Museum’s effort to listen, learn, and implement inclusive practices. Thank you for welcoming our families and valuing their lived experience.
