Our 2026 Portfolio Artist Internship brought together artists with so many different skills and interests, and Michal Aloni is the perfect example of just that! Last season she worked with us as a singer and Assistant Director, bringing her creativity and versatility to so many sides of the festival. We loved having her on the team and watching her grow throughout the summer!

Here’s what she had to say about her experience. 💫

What happens when you take names, faces, and expectations out of the audition room?

For Opera 5’s 2025 general auditions, our panel listened to blind recorded auditions and had some interesting takeaways about what really makes an artist stand out.

Swipe through for their thoughts on recording quality, artistic choices, musicality, and more!

🎤✨ YOU’RE INVITED!

Come hang out with us for our very first Acoustic Karaoke Party on October 24! 🎃

Think karaoke, but with two fab pianists, Trevor and Stephan, ready to play whatever you feel like singing. Musical theatre? Joni Mitchell? The Magic Flute? We’ll have sheet music, look things up on the spot, and just see where the night takes us. Come sing your heart out, or grab a drink and enjoy the chaos from the audience. 😂

And because it’s October, costumes are very much encouraged! We’ll have snacks, candy, a cash bar, and plenty of opportunities to make some questionable musical decisions together.

Today we’re hearing from the wonderful Patricia Wrigglesworth, who joined us last season for the Opera 5 Portfolio Artist Internship Program! Patricia has been such a wonderful addition to the Opera 5 family, and we’ve loved getting to watch her grow both on and off stage.

Hear what Patricia had to say about her internship experience! 💛

We were so excited to be back in Montreal with Opera McGill Students this weekend for auditions for our 2027 Portfolio Artist Internship Program. It was such a joy to hear these incredible artists, and we were inspired by their talent, creativity, and curiosity! Huge thanks to the wonderful McGill team for welcoming us and making us feel so at home.
