John's is an Apostolate of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, in co-operation with local Orthodox churches of Greater Toronto serving anyone in need since 1986. OUR VISION:

n trapped in a lifestyle that is difficult to escape. When people do not feel like they belong, they just cannot seem to recover. "WE BELIEVE
that we bear the image and likeness of God inside of us and that this is our deepest reality. However, we tend to picture this in a naïve, romantic, and pious way. We imagine that somewhere inside us there is a beautiful icon of God stamped into our souls. That may well be, but God, as Scripture assures us, is more than an icon. God is fire—wild, infinite, ineffable, non-containable.”

April 12th 2026 marked the feast of feasts the Resurrection of Christ in the Orthodox Church just one week after Western Easter this year. In the afternoon of Pascha we sang the Agape vespers the vespers of love. This vespers has a short gospel reading which is read in as many languages as possible. This year it turned out not to be a short gospel at all as it was repeated in no less than 33 languages .
There were some recognisable European languages some very unfamiliar African and Asian languages and some unexpected languages such as Pidgin which began like a repeat of English and then developed into something else . The translation into Pidgin had a vividness that the original English does not have.
In each language the message was the same joyful
Christ is Risen and to those in the tombs He has given life.
Christ is Risen
Indeed He is Risen!
A joy filled Pascha to each and all who are part of the extended family of St John's Mission in whatever way..
