PSB Seniors Club Association Celebrates Vaisakhi and Sikh Heritage Day with Joy, Culture and Community Spirit in Brampton
The PSB Seniors Club Association proudly celebrated Vaisakhi and Sikh Heritage Day on April 18, 2026, at Paul Palleschi Recreation Centre with great enthusiasm, vibrant energy, and a strong sense of community spirit. More than 100 members of the club attended the colourful gathering, making it one of the most memorable celebrations hosted by the association this year.
The venue came alive with members dressed in beautiful traditional attire, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and the spirit of Vaisakhi. The program began with a warm welcome and inaugural address by Gian Paul, who thanked all members for their wonderful participation and encouraged everyone to remain united through culture, friendship, and service.
During his opening remarks, Gian Paul also gave a brief introduction of the executive leadership and dedicated team members of the club, acknowledging their valuable service and commitment. He recognized Harcharan Singh, G.S. Khakh, and directors Ram Singh Daind, Manjit Gill, Joginder Marwaha, Raghbir Makkar, and Sukhdev Singh Bedi for their continued teamwork and dedication.
“Vaisakhi is not only a festival of harvest and joy, it is a celebration of courage, identity and togetherness. Our seniors are the guardians of our traditions, and today’s gathering shows the strength of our community,” said Gian Paul.
Mr. Gian Paul then introduced G.S. Khakh, who spoke passionately about the importance of Khalsa Day, Vaisakhi, and Sikh Heritage Month in Canada. He highlighted how these occasions preserve history while inspiring future generations.
“Vaisakhi teaches us sacrifice, equality and service to humanity. Sikh Heritage Month in Canada is a proud recognition of the contribution Sikhs have made to this great nation,” said G.S. Khakh.
The audience was then addressed by S.S. Bedi, who emphasized the importance of organizing such cultural and social events, especially for seniors, while also highlighting the growing role of the club in enriching seniors’ lives.
“Programs like these keep seniors active, connected and happy. They create friendships, reduce isolation and give our elders a stage to celebrate life,” said S.S. Bedi.
“PSB Seniors Club has become a family for many members. It is a place where seniors find respect, companionship, confidence and the joy of belonging,” he added.
“Our mission is to keep seniors engaged through culture, health awareness, recreation and meaningful social connections throughout the year,” said S.S. Bedi.
The celebration featured a lively entertainment program with music and songs by the Parvinder Sarl Musical Group, who kept the audience engaged throughout the day. The Marwaha Family delivered energetic dance performances that brought cheers and applause from the crowd. Members also enjoyed gidha, bhangra, and group singing, turning the hall into a festival of joy and celebration.
A delicious meal was served, and members praised the excellent food and warm hospitality arranged by the organizing team.
The event was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Maninder Sidhu, who congratulated the club for preserving heritage and serving seniors in the community.
“The strength of Canada lies in its diversity. Celebrations like this showcase the vibrant Sikh heritage that enriches our country. I commend PSB Seniors Club Association for bringing seniors together in such a meaningful way,” said Maninder Sidhu.
Also in attendance was Amarjot Sandhu, who praised the association’s dedication to seniors.
“Our seniors built the foundations of our community. They deserve respect, care and opportunities to stay socially active. PSB Seniors Club is doing commendable work,” said Amarjot Sandhu.
Navjit Kaur Brar also extended greetings and appreciated the cultural spirit of the gathering.
“It is heartwarming to see our seniors celebrating heritage with such pride and happiness. Events like these strengthen community bonds and inspire younger generations,” said Navjit Kaur Brar.
A special highlight of the day was an informative lecture on Sikh heritage by Bhai Gulzar Singh Ji, who shared inspiring reflections on Sikh history, values, and identity.
“Sikh heritage is rooted in seva, courage, humility and justice. These timeless values are needed more than ever in today’s world,” said Bhai Gulzar Singh Ji.
“When we remember our history, we strengthen our future. Heritage is not only to be celebrated—it must be lived every day,” he added.
Members greatly appreciated the thoughtful presentation, with many describing it as one of the most meaningful parts of the event.
Club member Kartar Lochav praised the overall arrangements and joyful atmosphere.
“Today’s event was full of energy, discipline and happiness. It felt like one big family gathering. Congratulations to the organizers,” he said.
Founder member Malook Singh Kahlon especially appreciated the heritage lecture and complete program.
“The entire event was excellent, but the lecture by Bhai Gulzar Singh Ji was truly outstanding. It reminded us of our roots and responsibilities,” said Malook Singh Kahlon.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Harcharan Singh, who has been leading the planning and ex*****on of such successful events with the support of dedicated team members and volunteers.
“The success of this event belongs to every member who participated with love and enthusiasm. Together we will continue to build a caring, active and proud seniors community,” said Harcharan Singh.
