Toronto Bonsai Society

Toronto Bonsai Society The Official Toronto Bonsai Society page! (To become a Member, please visit http://torontobonsai.org/ & use the Contact tab.) directly from Japan.

The Toronto Bonsai Society, formed in 1964 and one of the largest outside Japan, is devoted to the learning, practice and teaching of the horticultural techniques and artistic principles of the ancient art of bonsai. Through our regular meetings, workshops, lecture and exhibitions we promote interest in bonsai and general awareness of this fascinating hobby. At our monthly meetings, bonsai techniq

ues are taught to beginners. At least once a year, the club invites a bonsai master from the United States, Europe or Japan for a series of lectures, demonstrations and workshops that will also be of interest to the experienced bonsai growers. Regular meetings consist of a beginners' lecture, and a hands-on workshop conducted by senior members. Plant material for the workshops is usually provided by the club, but participants can also bring in their own material. Members receive the club's monthly publication, Toronto Bonsai Society Journal, and can borrow books and videos from our extensive library. Members may purchase tools and supplies from the club, and participate in orders of tools, wire, pots, etc. Every year the Toronto Bonsai Society organizes exhibits in the spring and fall. For these events members are encourages to display their trees. Meetings are held at 7 pm at the Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Avenue East at Leslie Street, on the second Monday of every month, except in July and August, when informal get-togethers are arranged i members' gardens. You are invited to attend a Monday night meeting at no charge, for you to see if you re invested in becoming a member.
