Our concert is tonight! Tickets have been selling like hotcakes but there are still seats available and we will be selling tickets at the door. It’s a dreary, rainy day out there but inside it will be sunny and warm.

Groove to the folksy '60s vibes of Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, and hippie Broadway hits from Hair, Godspell and more!

Meet our arrangers for TCS’s upcoming Both Sides Now concert, May 13, 7:30pm.

Geoff Butler is Artistic Director for Toronto Choral Society. He approaches arranging with deep respect for the original music. His arrangement of Four Strong Winds carefully transcribes the harmonies used by Ian and Sylvia. His arrangement of 500 Miles includes charming train references, like a whistle at the beginning, and subway doors closing at the end, adding subtle texture without losing the song’s heartfelt simplicity. The Both Sides Now arrangement is a highlight of the concert—it explores complex harmonies and shifting rhythms that mirror Joni Mitchell's profound lyrics and melody. Geoff’s arrangement invites listeners to experience the song from another perspective while maintaining the original’s spirit.

Bonnie Penfound brings a wealth of experience from nearly thirty years as a high school music teacher and a long-standing composer. Bonnie has composed music performed by Chor Leoni, Hogtown Brass, Sonas Voices, Voca Chorus, and the Toronto Choral Society. Transitioning from pop to choral music, Bonnie focuses on respecting the original pieces while crafting engaging arrangements for choir and audience alike. Her arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s The Sisters of Mercy skillfully translates the original’s plucked acoustic guitar counter melody into harmonized vocal and piano parts, producing a richer and more expansive sound that weaves beautifully through the performance.

These inspired arrangements promise a concert full of emotional depth, intricate harmonies, and captivating storytelling. We look forward to sharing this special evening with you.

Tickets are available now—reserve your seat for Both Sides Now on May 13!
