The group came together in 2003 and 2004 and it was formed as an informal, volunteer organization to address the paucity of funding in Ontario for feature film production. In spirit, PRO remains the same ‘rough and ready’ but effective coalition of creative copyright holders in this province. PRO's Charter provides an excellent overview of who we are and how we work. The structure of PRO membershi
p:
We’ll be moving to two ways to access PRO (the Producer’s Roundtable of Ontario).
• Level one will be free, and you’ll be added to the e-mail list and receive select updates on
areas of interest and concern to Ontario Feature Film Producers.
• Level Two is full membership , you will be provided with a copy of the PRO charter you
will be invited to meetings, which will from time to time include special guests from the funding
agencies and other organizations of interest, you will be encouraged to participate and organize
committees to improve the business environment in which you work and which allows you to meet and network with your colleagues and other noteworthy industry people, and last but never least, you’ll be contributing to strengthening and building a vibrant community for feature film in Ontario. Membership Dues:
Dues are $100 per calendar year (January 1st to December 31st) per company with one representative, plus $25.00 per extra associate from the company. Benefits of Membership:
• PRO was instrumental, and led the charge to re-establish funding (in the form of the OMDC film
fund) for feature film making in the Province. This initiative began with PRO. Film Ontario and
others joined in so that, as you know we now have around $4M dollars a year for Ontario
feature production.
• 2015 - OMDC has tabled with Ontario Ministry of Culture a request to increase its equity
investment level from $4 million to $20 million. PRO is in the initial stages of planning to lobby
and strategize the current Provincial government.
• In the past PRO members supported by PRO dues have attended and spoken in front of the
CRTC on behalf of Ontario Feature Film producers. A recent example being the Bell media
licence renewal, and the corresponding benefits package allocations that were being determined.
