Nobody should be working yet not making ends meet. 🍂

This Thanksgiving, thousands of food hampers will be prepared for workers and their families who are struggling to pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads. We are in a crisis of decent work.

Too many workers are forced into temporary and precarious jobs that don’t have benefits, don’t qualify for Employment Insurance (EI), and sometimes don’t even pay wages! And the Ontario Ministry of Labour is allowing this crisis to persist.

That’s why we’re organizing to build a stronger movement 💪 for decent work to fight collectively for our rights and to make sure the government does its job.

On October 1st, 2026, workers earning Ontario's general minimum wage will receive a 35¢ increase to $17.95 per hour. But we know this is not enough!

The yearly minimum wage cost of living adjustments we won in 2014 lag behind what workers need, especially as many have their pay stolen by their employers, and our government allows it to happen.

If you are being paid below the minimum wage or are unsure, call the Workers’ Action Centre at (416) 531-0778 for free and confidential support.

🦋 Meet WAC Member Araceli.

Experiencing while working as a cleaner, she came to the Workers’ Action Centre (WAC) to learn more about her rights. What she found was a community ready to support her and the fight for her wages. In the end, she recovered all of her stolen wages!

📣 Her message to other workers: whether you are undocumented or not, you have rights at work!

There is no worker justice without . Join us this Sunday, September 20 in Christie Pits Park at 2pm as we call for justice for all migrant workers. Because migrants make Canada work!

🚨 Prime Minister Mark Carney must fix EI now! 🚨

In difficult times, workers need accessible, adequate and fair (EI). Unfortunately, that is not the reality in Canada right now. Less than 40% of unemployed workers receive EI. From restrictive eligibility requirements and unfair disqualifications to inadequate levels of support, EI is failing workers.

The latest tariff crisis requires urgent action to fix Employment Insurance (EI), now and forever.

👉 EI should help in times like these, but unfortunately most unemployed workers, especially those in low wage and unstable jobs, don’t get EI when they need it.

Carney’s recently announced changes to EI, are yet again temporary, and miss the mark. An EI system that works for workers in precarious jobs, would benefit all workers.

Join us in demanding Mark Carney act to ensure that EI is fair, accessible, & adequate for all!
