Celebrating the Success of the Together End Racism in Toronto (TERT) Campaign!
On April 26, 2025, the Bangladeshi Canadian Community Services (BCS) office was filled with excitement and energy as over 56 youth leaders and 15 community members gathered to celebrate the impactful Together End Racism in Toronto (TERT) Campaign. The event, held from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, marked a significant milestone in the campaign’s journey toward combating racism and promoting social justice in Toronto.
The celebration was emceed by the dynamic trio Urbi Khan, Khansa Ashraf, and Anuva Hasan, members of the Together End Racism Campaign Team at BCS. The event kicked off with a meaningful land acknowledgment, honoring the traditional custodians of the land. Following that, Urbi and Anuva delivered an insightful presentation on the campaign’s purpose, milestones, and the incredible progress made in the fight against racism in Toronto.
Dr. Nasima Akter, Executive Director of BCS, congratulated all the youth community animators and participants for their unwavering commitment and hard work in the campaign. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hasan for his mentorship and support throughout the initiative.
The event agenda included:
•Lunch & Networking from 12:30-1:00 PM, where participants had the opportunity to connect and reflect on their journey.
•Community Animator Sharing Sessions, where youth animators shared their powerful personal experiences and stories of change.
•Insights from Past BCS Leadership Fellows, now working with Provincial and Federal governments, providing inspiration and guidance for the next generation of leaders.
•Performances by Youth Leaders, showcasing their creativity and passion for social justice.
•Certificate & Honorarium Distribution, where 73 dedicated youth leaders were recognized for their invaluable contributions to the campaign. Together, they dedicated over 4000 hours to organizing community events and raising awareness on racial issues, impacting over 1800 people in Toronto.
•Raffle Draws, adding an element of fun to the afternoon.
Congratulations to all the youth community animators and leaders who played an integral role in the Together End Racism in Toronto campaign, which was funded by the Government of Canada and created by Bangladeshi Canadian Community Services (BCS). Their efforts have paved the way for meaningful dialogue and positive change in the fight against racism.
Dr. Nasima Akter, Dr. Hasan, and Urbi Khan had the honor of presenting certificates to the youth leaders, acknowledging their dedication to leadership, advocacy, and the powerful work of the TERT campaign.
