The EDGE Program

Style, etiquette + leadership are vital skills for success; our focus is teaching poise that will help students make lasting and powerful first impressions

The EDGE Program offers black youth – male (Beau) and female (Debutante) between the ages of 16 and 19 – a unique, transformative experience that Empowers them to Develop and Grow their social and professional Engagement skills. Etiquette classes for junior girls and boys between the ages of 7-10 are also offered. The EDGE provides diverse workshops that expose participants to information and tech

niques not offered in a conventional classroom. Designed to empower and motivate, the EDGE engages participants in a variety of leadership workshops, team building exercises and includes a weekend retreat. As participants travel through this journey, we quickly establish the importance of adapting the skills and techniques they will gain while participating in the program. Workshops are conducted during the spring – ending early summer. The EDGE concludes with a formal presentation gala where participants are re-introduced to their family and friends as graduates of our program.

Too often, we celebrate graduation without ensuring our youth are truly equipped to navigate what comes next. Leadership. Professionalism. Networking. Community service. Financial literacy. Confidence. These skills don't just happen, they are developed.

EDGE is more than a program. It's a village committed to preparing Black youth for success beyond high school. Through workshops, mentorship, community service, retreats, and the Cotillion Ball, we are building the next generation of leaders.

Last Friday night at the BYR Youth Gala, the Edge Program took the stage and brought more than just a performance. We brought purpose, passion, and presence.

Edge represents growth, leadership, creativity, and giving young people the space to discover their voices and step confidently into who they are becoming. Every movement, every moment, and every smile reflected the heart of what Edge stands for: connection, empowerment, and community.
