Some of the strongest brands we admire today were built in the margins of a 9–5. Lunch breaks, late nights, early mornings. That doesn’t make the dream smaller, it makes the dream sustainable.

The truth is, stability is strategy. Having a paycheck while you build doesn’t mean you’re not serious, it means you’re resourceful. It means you understand that building takes both passion and provision.

And here’s the part nobody says out loud: rushing to quit without a plan can kill the very dream you’re trying to grow. There is nothing shameful about choosing wisdom over burnout.

Let’s normalize taking our time, stacking our resources, and building legacies without guilt.

The truth is… not everyone clapping for you actually wants to see you win. Sometimes the same people cheering when you’re “on the come up” are the first ones to disappear when you elevate.

And that’s not a reflection of you, it’s a reflection of them. Some people only feel comfortable when you’re on the same level. They’ll root for you as long as your growth doesn’t outpace theirs. The moment your shine gets too bright, their support gets quiet.

But here’s the lesson: silence is information. When people disappear, it’s not rejection, it’s protection. It saves you from keeping the wrong energy around your vision. ✨

Black women, this is especially for us. We already carry enough — the proving, the extra work, the unspoken tax of being in rooms that weren’t designed for us. The last thing needed is fake support draining energy too.

As we dove into planning our summit this year, a realization struck us: we needed to honor an extraordinary entrepreneur and illuminate her remarkable journey.
