Wavelength Music Series

Wavelength Music Series Toronto's artist-run, non-profit concert series for independent music since 2000!

Wavelength was founded as a grassroots, artist-run collective in 2000 by a group of like-minded independent musicians in Toronto. Originally a weekly live music night taking place on Sunday nights, accompanied by a free monthly photocopied print ‘zine, the Wavelength music series has a long and storied history as a forum and incubator for emerging musical talent in the Toronto area, with an unpara

lleled track record for championing new Canadian talent that has since gone to international success. Past esteemed Wavelength performers include: Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Constantines, Feist, F***ed Up, Grimes, Hidden Cameras, Holy F***, Jazz Cartier, METZ, Owen Pallett, Peaches, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Tokyo Police Club, Chad vanGaalen and more. Wavelength currently produces approximately 20 events per year, including the Wavelength Winter Festival in February and a monthly, year-round concert series in a variety of venues around Toronto and across Canada. Our programming also includes workshops, talks and other educational, outreach events as well as livestream concerts and discussions. Wavelength acknowledges the ongoing support of:

🪘🔁Sunken Cages is the solo-project of Indian-born & Philadelphia based electronic drummer/producer Ravish Momin. Inspired by Mumbai’s street-drumming ensembles and underground global dance music, he creates cinematically charged tracks using live-looped percussion arrangements and pre-composed melodies.

This month, Sunken Cages embarks on a Canadian Tour. Ahead of his Toronto stop at Wavelength’s Block Party @ St. Anne’s on June 21, he has kindly put together this banger mix!

🧊🌋 This month: at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Block Party!

There are bands where every album is a step into the unknown. There are others whose development is a reliable and consistent expansion of their terrain. The latter applies to the Icelandic musicians’ collective ADHD.

It is almost impossible to describe their concerts along traditional musical parameters. A performance by these four Vikings is always an all-encompassing ritual, a magic potion of incantation dance and a phenomenon of nature.

🌿🌀Next Month: + at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Block Party!

Phenomenal genre-mashing juggernaut Grdina/Lillinger mixes electronica, drum and bass, metal, punk, and freejazz, into their explosively self-expressive sound. A force of nature on guitar and oud, Grdina and virtuosic powerhouse innovator Lillinger intersperses intense, complex, spacious, heavily grooving free improv with modular composition ideas.

With equal parts rock, punk, and exploratory atonality, these next-level innovators take unexpected turns at every corner taking their wildfire chemistry to the next level in this duo setting.

to Summer Thing: Scarborough Edition! 🌞

Last year, Wavelength came to Scarborough for the first time. It was so fun to explore the east side of the city, and we loved the community focus of the event.

Next month, we’re hosting our very own block party! We’re bringing these good vibes back: free + outdoors + family friendly!

In addition to an incredible line-up of live music performances, we will have a vendor market + food and drink + fun art installations 🛍️🍦🖼️

🔊🔊 ATTN EVENT ORGANIZERS + ARTIST ENTREPRENEURS:

Have you attended a show at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s and wondered, “how can I put on a show here?” We want to hear from you!

We’re now inviting like-minded co-presenting partners to be among the first to access the revitalized space in the lower level of historic St. Anne’s Parish Hall, as part of our Venue Pilot program. This is a unique performance space that’s different most clubs or theatres in a few important ways:

🌟Shows can be ALL AGES
🌟350 cap (standing / sellable)
🌟Customizable, flexible space (with movable stage) to showcase a wide range of genres and multidisciplinary collaborations
🌟Community-oriented and impact-driven – a place for artists and audiences to connect

No need to lug in a P.A.! The space comes with a fully equipped Adamson sound system and basic lighting package. There’s also Yamaha backline available in-house — and a green room available for pre-show comfort. We can also connect you with Wavelength’s in-house visual artists to create an immersive experience. The gorgeous upstairs Parish Hall can also be accessed for select presentations.

Please visit bit.ly/WLvenuepilot or go through the LINK IN BIO for more info on how submit your co-presentation proposal for subsidized rental* of the space.

* Note: As this is a special event space without a permanent liquor license to offset costs, a facility rental fee is required to cover basic staffing and space usage, but subsidies are available and can be made available based on both need expressed and the uniqueness of the submission.

🎻🪭 Next Month: at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Block Party!

Maris Pihlap is a singer, producer, and DJ whose path into music began with folk music as a violinist, but has since evolved into into electronic production, songwriting, and DJ culture. Her recent work explores Estonian pop through a subtle amapiano lens, reflected in an EP featuring artists like Reket, villemdrillem, Jüri Pootsmann, and EiK — one of the first local releases influenced by the genre. Earlier solo albums, released under TIKS rekords, received nominations at the Estonian Music Awards and helped shape her voice as a producer and artist.

Alongside her own projects, Maris works behind the scenes as a producer, backing vocalist, and collaborator for other artists. In recent years, she’s also built a presence in Tallinn’s nightlife, shaping atmospheres as a DJ with style and precision.

🎷🌞 ONE MONTH AWAY! & Friends at Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Block Party!

Drawing on his Afro-Sufi musical heritage, Juno-nominated Ahmed Moneka presents a vibrant and transcendent fusion of African rhythms and Arabic folk melodies, enriched by contemporary influences of funk, soul, and jazz.

Reflecting on his personal journey as an artist, actor, and activist who came from Baghdad to Toronto, Moneka, alongside his stellar global ensemble, invites listeners to a jubilant celebration of life. His music explores love in all its forms while evoking a deep sense of longing for one’s homeland, all through original compositions and timeless Middle Eastern classics.
