The rain stopped just in time for us to celebrate and officially unveil our newest mural. This one is very special as we remember William "Bill" Kassel and his father Max of Kassel's Pharmacy.

For generations, the Kassel name has been part of the heart of Mimico. In 1948, Max Kassel opened Kassel’s Pharmacy, creating more than a place to fill a prescription. He created a neighbourhood gathering place where customers were known by name and treated like family. His son, William “Bill” Kassel, joined the family business in 1970 and carried that same spirit of care and community forward. Bill’s commitment extended well beyond the pharmacy. As a leader of the Mimico Village BIA, he worked tirelessly to support local businesses, bring people together and make Mimico a better place to live, work and visit.
Bill was also instrumental in nurturing community traditions such as the Mimico Tulip Festival, helping create celebrations that brought neighbours, families, businesses and visitors together. This mural honours Max and William Kassel and the lasting legacy they left in Mimico — a legacy built on kindness, community, friendship and a genuine belief in giving back. Their pharmacy may have served the community, but their greatest prescription was always community itself. Forever remembered. Forever part of Mimico.

Thank you to the Kassel family for allowing us to honour Bill and Max and all of their contributions to our community.

Sadly, our Royal York location will be closed ALL DAY tomorrow, Monday July 27th, for a scheduled neighbourhood power outage. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. We look forward to serving you good coffee the rest of the week. See you then! 💛

Please respect that we are focusing on Accessibility at this Forum and more meetings will need to be organized. We hope the interest in this event will motivate Metrolinx to organize their own Open House like the one in 2018.

The building is fairly small and we expect to reach capacity quickly. Please respect the capacity limits and follow our volunteers' guidance. Stay in the park, watch the live feed on your phone together with neighbours, make some friends, bring water, a folding chair, weather will be good. No, the library wasn’t available, unfortunately, and proximity to the station was important.
