Call for crystal for a new exhibition at Koffler Arts!

This summer Polish artist and architect Dr. Natalia Romik will present the North American debut of her exhibition Plague Crystals.

The exhibition will feature symbolic representations of contemporary plagues enclosed within crystal towers.

🎶 Celebrating Mizrahi Voices at the MNjcc

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday night for Mizrahi Voices - an unforgettable evening of art, music, and conversation celebrating the richness and diversity of Mizrahi Jewish life. We were able to step into the world of Yemeni Jewish women - to fill the MNjcc with the scent of jachnun and the sounds of a Yemenite Havdalah service; to hear traditional women’s poetry and song accompanied by a tin olive oil can for a drum and the stories behind this; and, to learn about Jewish Yemenite through the deep research these artists have undertaken to fill a significant cultural void and keep traditions alive.

November is Mizrahi Heritage Month, honouring the histories and cultures of Jews from across the Middle East and North Africa - from Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, and Morocco to Iran, Syria, and beyond. Through art, food, and community, we celebrate the many ways Mizrahi traditions continue to shape and enrich Jewish life today.

We’re deeply grateful to our partners No Silence on Race and Koffler Arts, and to our generous funder UJA’s Kultura Collective, for making this celebration possible.

🎨 Featured artists:
Ayelet Tsabari - author and storyteller
Karen Pe’er - visual artist
Erez Zobary - singer-songwriter

📸 Swipe through for highlights from the evening, and stay tuned for more Mizrahi Heritage Month programs:

Mizrahi Heritage Storytime – Sunday, November 9th, 10am–11:30am
Sepharadi Kabbalat Shabbat – Friday, November 28th, 6pm–10pm

With gratitude to all who made this night so meaningful. 💛
