Reflecting on another year of growth, impact and community at ACCT
This past Saturday, we came together for ACCTโs 2026 Annual General Meeting to reflect on the past year, recognize the people behind our work, and look ahead to what comes next.
Our Board President, Inji Mekhemer, shared highlights from a year that saw ACCT continue to grow, strengthen our programs and partnerships, and take on new opportunities, including becoming an Employment Ontario service provider. Treasurer Ayman Radwan presented our audited financial statements, highlighting ACCTโs continued growth and sound financial management.
One of the most meaningful parts of the afternoon was hearing directly from Narwan Noorzai, a participant in our Toronto Youth Job Corps program, and Izeldin Elsaddig, from our Seniors Program. They shared their journeys and what being part of ACCT has meant to them, reminding us that while numbers matter, not everything that matters can be counted.
We also took a moment to remember our dear colleague Lodi Awad, who we lost this year after almost ten years with ACCT, and the difference she made in the lives of so many people.
We thanked outgoing Directors Nawal Al-Busaidi, Sara AlMadhoun, Bilal Hamadah and Jehad Aliweiwi for their contributions, with special recognition to Jehad for six years of service, and warmly welcomed Wafaa El Osta to the Board.
We were also pleased to have Adriana Mitri from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services join us for the occasion.
To our staff, Board, volunteers, members, funders, partners and community, thank you for the role you play in ACCTโs work and for the trust you place in us.
We look forward to building on this work together in the year ahead.
