When a family is at the heart of an inferno, the wounds aren't always visible.
At Israel Magen Fund of Canada, we witness the incredible strength of families in the Gaza Envelope every day. Today, we want to share the story of Johanna, a mother of six and a pillar of the Sderot community.
On October 7th, Johanna’s family faced every parent's worst nightmare: while they were under fire at home, one of her daughters was serving as an observer right on the front lines. The trauma that followed didn’t just affect one person—it shook the entire foundation of their household.
Through our partnership with Gvanim Association, Johanna’s family found a lifeline. They didn't just receive ; they learned a new "family language." They moved from outbursts of anger and silent suffering to a place where they can openly discuss their pain and support one another’s recovery.
Johanna describes the Resilience Center as a "bubble of serenity" that restores her family’s stability time and time again.
We are committed to funding the Early Childhood Therapy project to ensure that no family is left to process these scars alone. We provide:
- Family-Centred Healing: Helping parents and children navigate trauma together.
- Specialized Tools: Equipping families with the communication skills needed to survive the psychological aftermath of war.
- Long-Term Support: Ensuring therapists are available whenever a crisis strikes.
Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. By supporting Israel Magen Fund of Canada, you are helping families like Johanna’s turn a shared tragedy into a journey of shared resilience.
