School-Based Programs

Volunteers, recruited from the school and neighbouring communities, each read weekly or biweekly for half a day during school hours
Children (selected by the school from Kindergarten to grade 2) read ½ hour twice weekly
All reading is one-to-one
All materials are provided by VRP and the school
Volunteer training and a Police Reference Check are mandatory
When children achieve grade level reading skills, they graduate from VRP
All VRP children receive a certificate and gift of a book at the end of the school year.

It's a great day for love and a great day for friends and family to support Volunteer Readers Programme Love for Literacy Month đź’• This is the only time of the year when we solicit donations so please have a look at what we have accomplished in our first FIFTEEN YEARS!

"It is an excellent program that has helped and supported our lowest grade 1 readers move forward in their literacy journey and has developed their enjoyment for reading!"
