Today, on World Environment Day, we’re reminded that environmental health and infection prevention go hand in hand. For IPAC professionals, the connection is clear: A safer environment = safer patient care.

Within IPAC practice, environmental responsibility shows up in many ways, including:
• Reducing healthcare waste while maintaining safety standards
• Promoting responsible use of single-use vs. reusable equipment
• Supporting sustainable cleaning and disinfection practices
• Preventing environmental contamination that can contribute to transmission
• Encouraging thoughtful resource use across healthcare settings

Small, consistent actions across healthcare teams can reduce environmental impact while strengthening infection prevention and control outcomes.

This World Environment Day, let’s continue working toward healthcare systems that protect both people and the planet. 🌱

That’s a wrap on IPAC Canada’s National Conference in beautiful Toronto! We had a fantastic time connecting with fellow members, meeting new friends, learning innovative concepts, and sharing so many great ideas along the way.

A huge shoutout to Dori Taylor for the incredible time and dedication she put into co-chairing the 2026 Scientific Committee and helping make this year’s conference such a success. We can’t wait to see what’s in store next year in Edmonton for ! 🎉
