We’re so excited to celebrate one of our amazing volunteers, Chloë Martineau, who has just been selected to the U-18 Team Canada team! 🇨🇦❤️

Chloë helped support our former Hamilton Program as well as our programs in Ottawa, and we couldn’t be more proud to see her reach this incredible milestone.❤️

She will represent Canada in a tournament against Team USA from August 12–15 at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Vancouver, BC. 🏒🇨🇦

Through their generous support, the Canucks for Kids Fund helped make it possible for girls and gender-diverse participants from our British Columbia programs in Colwood, Langley, Victoria, and Prince George to attend The Big Gathering in Ottawa. 💚

Their support provided these participants with the opportunity to travel to Ottawa for a five-day experience where they connected with Hockey 4 Youth participants from across Canada, formed lasting friendships, explored Ottawa, and took part in meaningful learning experiences, inspiring keynote sessions, and fun activities. 💙

We’re excited to announce we’ve received Canadian Women & Sport’s The Next Play Grant! 🩵

This grant funds initiatives that remove barriers and expand opportunities for girls, women, and gender diverse participants in sport.

With this funding, we’ll be delivering a new initiative in Toronto and Montreal designed to help keep girls engaged in sport throughout the summer. We’re looking forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks. 🩵

The Next Play is funded by the Government of Ontario.

🥇Thank You to Our Gold Sponsor, the Senators Community Foundation Senators Community Foundation ❤️

The Ottawa Senators Community Foundation has been a valued partner of Hockey 4 Youth for many years. Over time, we have developed a wonderful relationship with Jennifer Cameron, Director of Events and Fundraising for the Foundation, whose support and commitment have helped create meaningful opportunities for our participants.

Jennifer joined us at The Big Gathering in Ottawa and spoke on our “My Life in Hockey” panel alongside other members of the hockey community. She shared her career journey, spoke about her role with the Foundation, and offered insights into the many opportunities available within the sport. The girls were incredibly engaged and eager to learn about the different career paths in hockey, asking thoughtful questions and showing great interest in Jennifer’s experience. ❤️

The Senators Community Foundation also supported a yoga session with 24Hr Yogapalooza , featuring a special guest appearance. 🫣🧘🏻‍♀️

Participants enjoyed an introduction to yoga before being surprised by the beloved mascot Spartacat who joined in the fun and brought plenty of energy and excitement to the session. ❤️

In addition, the Foundation generously donated some signed Senators hats for participants, volunteers, and guest speakers. The hats were a huge hit and added an extra special touch to the event. 🧢❤️

We are deeply grateful to the Senators Community Foundation for their continued support, partnership, and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people. Their contributions helped make The Big Gathering an unforgettable experience for newcomer and barriered girls from our programs across the country.

Founded in 2025, The Hudson Sullivan Foundation was established by Katie Sullivan to honour the legacy of her husband, Hudson Alexander Sullivan. 💙

The Big Gathering was a tremendous success thanks to the support of The Hudson Sullivan Foundation. Katie and her son, Wyatt, joined us in Ottawa for an exciting first day, met our newcomer and barriered girls from across the country and helped kick off an incredible 5 day event. 💙🎤

Katie shared her story with the girls, spoke about resilience, navigating hardship, and embracing life’s nonlinear path. Her message resonated deeply with participants, who were fully engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and gained valuable insights from her experiences. 💙

Wyatt quickly became everyone’s favourite. His energy, enthusiasm, and ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face made a lasting impression and made everyone’s experience a million times better. 💙

The Big Gathering 2026! 🎉💙

We’ve been looking forward to May for months… and just like that, it’s over.

The Big Gathering 2026 was truly something special. Five days, over 100 girls from across Canada, in our capital city, and so many moments we’ll never forget. 💙

The Big Gathering brought together participants from Prince George, Colwood, Victoria and Langley in BC, Windsor, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa to learn, grow, connect, and celebrate what is possible when girls are given the opportunity to thrive. 💙

From yoga and mental health workshops to financial literacy, “My Life in Hockey” and “Empower Hour” panels, inspiring guest speakers, sports, and exploring the city, every part of the day meant something new. 🎯

We toured Ottawa, visited Rideau Hall and Parliament Hill, laughed a lot, learned even more, and built friendships that we know will last far beyond this trip. ✈️
