Thank you to CP24 Toronto's Breaking News and Liz West for giving us the opportunity to share Xenia’s approach to inclusive concert design live on air!
Cellist Beth Silver and Xenia’s Executive and Artistic Director Rory McLeod shared how we meet audiences’ physical, sensory, and social needs within the concert space, and Beth shared what it’s like to perform for neurodiverse audiences in a judgement-free environment.
Our next concert, presented in partnership with SaugaLive, is happening at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre this Sunday, May 3 at 11:00 AM. Tickets for this concert and our other public events are available on our website: https://www.xeniaconcerts.com

We’ve got some really wonderful news to share! 🎉

Xenia Concerts has been awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts .council

This important grant will provide Xenia with $50,000 to support the growth of our Xenia Artist Training Program. This funding will allow us to continue sharing, building, and creating more accessibility within the performing arts sector by teaching artists, producers, staff, administrators, and community members about the importance of accessibility for all.

Many thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts for recognizing and supporting the importance of providing accessible, intentional, and collaborative education in the performing arts.

Stay tuned for more news about the expansion of our Xenia Artist Training Program in Canada and beyond. We hope to see you soon at an Adaptive Concert in your neighbourhood!

P.S. Do you know artists, producers, arts workers, organizations, venues, or community members who would benefit from the Xenia Artist Training Program?
If so, share this post with them or visit our website to learn more!
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Hey Xenia community! 💛

We’re looking for volunteers to support our upcoming concert featuring Mattmac, with musical ASL interpretation by Phoenix the Fire.
Volunteers will help with welcoming guests, supporting our sensory table, putting up wayfinding signage, assisting with light setup (no heavy lifting!), and helping audience members complete feedback forms.

✨ In return, you’ll get to experience an incredible live performance in an accessible venue, connect with community, and be part of something truly special.

🕤 Shift: 9:30 AM – 12 PM
📍 Meridian Hall (1 Front Street)
📩 DM us to sign up by Friday at noon

P.S. Can’t make it this time but want to volunteer at future Xenia shows? Reach out anyway—we’d love to connect! 💫

Xenia Concerts March Recap 🎶
What a full and joyful month it’s been at Xenia Concerts! In March, we were grateful to share four inclusive and accessible concerts with our wonderful community. Here’s a little look back at what we got up to this month 💛

We started the month with a playful and imaginative performance of Carnival of the Animals by Trio Carnaval, presented in partnership with TO Live, with therapy dogs provided by One Health Partners. Mime artist Trevor Copp performed alongside pianists Dakota Scott-Digout and Chloe Weston (and her butterfly wings!), engaging audiences through music, movement, and joy. To open our March 7 concert, music therapist Annie Bird also led a pre-concert warm-up and sing-along with our young audience members.

We were also thrilled to have received a Grow Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in the amount of $243,000, which will support the growth of Xenia’s Adaptive Concert Programming in Toronto from 2026–2029. We are deeply grateful for this support and excited for the possibilities it creates.

This month, we also celebrated our new partnership with Emily’s House with an uplifting performance by Majoko. Joanna Majoko brought incredible energy through voice and percussion, Juan Carlos Medrano filled the room with beautiful rhythms, and Felix Fox-Papas delighted audiences on keyboard.

We were also honoured to share music in schools and community spaces, including a special visit with Adrian Sutherland at Park Lane Public School, and a heartfelt performance by Karla Garcia at Safehaven.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, and helped make these moments so special.

Did you attend a Xenia concert this month?
We’d love to hear about it! Let us know in the comments which concert you attended and what it meant to you 💬

Stay tuned for more exciting concerts and updates coming in April!

Conversation Starters:
Accessibility is not an afterthought.

Accessibility shouldn’t be something we add at the end of the creative/design/ production process. It should be implemented throughout the entire process.

When artists, organizations and communities integrate access into the creative/design process from the beginning, it transforms how work is imagined, created, and experienced.
Access becomes:

- Creative practice
- Community care
- Artistic responsibility

Join the conversation! Comment with one way accessibility can be implemented from the beginning of the creative process.

We’ve got huge news to share! Xenia Concerts has been awarded a Grow grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This landmark grant will provide Xenia with $243,000 between 2026 and 2029 to support the growth of our Adaptive Concert programming in Toronto.

Many thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for recognizing the importance of providing accessible, inclusive programming to communities who often face systemic barriers to inclusion in the performing arts.

Stay tuned for more news about the expansion of our programming in Toronto and beyond. We hope to see you soon at an Adaptive Concert in your neighbourhood!
