Last week, three Israeli activists travelled to the US to talk about their “protective presence” work in the West Bank, where they physically accompany Palestinians to deter settler violence.

In case you missed the livestream, veteran Palestinian activist Eid Suleiman Hadaleen recorded this video for the delegation, speaking about the power of protective presence and the difference it makes in people’s lives.

Check the link in our bio to see how you can help these activists stand up to settler violence in the West Bank.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Naomi Chazan Fellowship!

The Naomi Chazan Fellowship is a transformative year-long program for young progressive leaders in the Canadian Jewish community, beginning with a subsidized trip to Israel-Palestine and continuing with a year of leadership development, learning, and community-building in Canada.

As one recent Naomi Chazan Fellow reflected: “I became part of a cohort of thoughtful peers who share a commitment to creating positive change within the Jewish community and beyond.”

Through direct engagement with Israeli and Palestinian activists, organizers, and civil society leaders, Fellows gain firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the region while developing the skills, knowledge, and relationships needed to lead meaningful change in their own communities.

If you're passionate about equality, human rights, and ending the occupation, we encourage you to apply.

For too long, too many conversations about Israel in the Canadian Jewish community have been stuck in the past.

The reality on the ground has changed. The challenges facing Israeli democracy have changed. What meaningful solidarity looks like must change, too.

These are some of the hard truths from those fighting every day for democracy, equality, and peace. Their message is clear: don’t look away, don’t stay silent, and don’t give up.

The future of Israel will be shaped not only by those doing the work on the ground, but by those willing to stand with them.

Canada, Australia, and the UK have launched the International Fund for Israeli-Palestinian Peace — a major investment in the people and organizations doing the hard, everyday work of building a shared future.

Peace isn’t built only at negotiating tables; it’s built by courageous Israelis and Palestinians working across divides, even in the most difficult moments.

This announcement reflects years of advocacy by our friends at the Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP), alongside additional partners and parliamentarians, including NIF partners Combatants for Peace, It’s Time, Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, Givat Haviva, the Parents Circle–Families Forum, Rabbis for Human Rights, and many others working toward a safe, shared future for Israelis and Palestinians.

NIF Canada, NIF UK, and NIF Australia are proud to stand alongside these organizations and the global NIF community in welcoming this important investment in peace. At a moment when hope can feel scarce, this is a reminder that peace remains possible — and worth investing in.

The violence across Israel, Lebanon, and the West Bank these past days is unbearable and unacceptable.

Last night, Israelis across the country ran to bomb shelters as Iranian missiles rained down yet again, following more airstrikes on Lebanon.

A 7-month-old Palestinian was killed by a soldier who likely will never stand trial for this crime.

An Israeli civilian was murdered in a horrific terror attack.

Settler terrorists rampaged through Huwara.

Security never comes from violence — it comes from political agreements. There is another way to live. It takes leaders with courage and foresight to make it our reality.

🎞️ Join NIFC at TJFF

The conversations happening around Israel and Palestine are some of the most difficult— which is exactly why the films at this year’s Toronto Jewish Film Festival matter.

This week at TJFF, courageous filmmakers are challenging audiences, complicating narratives, and creating space for conversations that too often get shut down.

NIFC is proud to sponsor several films that explore the social and political realities shaping life in Israel and Palestine today, and to support the filmmakers bringing these stories to Toronto.

Come watch. Come question. Come discuss. 🎥

What does it mean to defend democracy in an election year?

It means making sure every citizen can vote freely and safely for the party of their choice.

Ongoing efforts to disqualify Arab parties and suppress voter turnout threaten the foundation of democracy itself.

That’s why we are preparing now: to fight disenfranchisement, to monitor political violence, to tackle disinformation, and to ensure that every voice is heard.
