SEED Alexandra Park

SEED Alexandra Park Partner organizations Include: Toronto Community Housing, Atkinson Housing Co-op and Alexandra Park Residents Association.

SEED (Social, Environmental, Enterprise Development) Alexandra Park is a true resident led initiative that combines urban agriculture and social enterprise to address food security as well as social, environmental and economic issues. SEED is being piloted by HSC in Alexandra Park/Atkinson co-op, a social housing neighborhood in downtown Toronto and is using backyards and underutilized spaces as m

ini-farmer’s fields. Residents are working together to connect existing opportunities and build on the many skills and resources in the community. The goals are to increase food access, stimulate community economic development and act as a model of community enterprise related to urban agriculture. We are currently establishing SEED AP as a not-for-profit co-op that will focus on urban agriculture, waste reduction, community engagement, capacity building and social enterprise to address food security and the physical and social health of the community while providing employment to residents.
