Canadian Labour Congress - Ontario Region

Canadian Labour Congress - Ontario Region Welcome to the Ontario Region of the Canadian Labour Congress.

The Canadian Labour Congress represents the interests of more than three million affiliated workers in every imaginable occupation from coast to coast to coast. The CLC is the umbrella organization for dozens of affiliated Canadian and international unions, as well as provincial federations of labour and regional labour councils. We advocate on behalf of all working people in many different ways –

from organizing campaigns and rallies to lobbying federal politicians in Parliament to speaking out in the media and to business on key issues to representing Canada’s labour movement internationally to developing partnerships with the community and other supportive groups.

Our Party was born out of Labour and the struggles of people who organized together to resist and demand better working conditions. They knew as we know today that building a fairer society will be advanced through finding better and bold solutions for the common good like health care, pharmacare, dental care and anti-scab legislation. The most fundamental value of the Labour movement is Solidarity. By standing together through unity will we advance a democratic socialist vision.

Leadership is not individualistic. We show leadership through our collective power. By joining together we build a movement that makes a difference in the lives of working people.

We are fired up to be at the Canada’s NDP / Le NPD du Canada Convention 2026 — where the energy is high and the focus is clear: deliver for workers.

Today, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew brought it home — proving that when New Democrats govern, life gets better. From tackling affordability to strengthening public healthcare, this is what it looks like to put people first.

Canadian Labour Congress - Congrès du travail du Canada President Bea Bruske reminded us where we come from — and what we’re fighting for. Labour built this movement and this Party. When workers organize, we don’t just hope for change — we win it.

Let’s be clear: a union card means more money in your pocket, safer workplaces, and real power on the job.

The NDP is the party of more powerful paycheques — and this convention is proof: the movement is growing, Canadians here in Manitoba are feeling the benefits of an NDP government, and we’re bringing the energy to our Federal movement. ✊

At the OFL, we know that a good, unionized job is the best way to provide a safe and stable life for Ontarians. We believe that true reconciliation must go beyond words and acknowledgements and move to action. This must involve work to support the education of Indigenous youth.

To this end, the OFL First Nations, Métis, Inuit Circle / Union Savings Indigenous Bursary has been established to support Indigenous students to pursue post-secondary education, as a pathway to meaningful work, careers, and activism in the labour movement.
