Call for Participants: our friends at the University of Waterloo are seeking participants for a study on Black hair experiences in sport and recreation!
This study will focus on examining Black hair as a site where we can learn more about sport and recreation experiences, better understand how hair may inform how we think about inclusion and access to sport and recreation for Black girls and help us in creating more culturally inclusive sport environments and recreation programming.
You may be eligible to participate if you identify as a Black girl between 14-18 years old who has participated in sport or recreation in the last year. Participation involves one interview of approximately 30-60 minutes in length and a follow-up interview of 30-45 minutes in length, plus an image capture activity where you will be invited to produce pictures and/or videos related to your hair and your sport or recreation experiences. If your hair is an aspect of your identity that shapes how you feel, perform or participate in sport and recreation, the research team would love to hear from you!
To participate or for more information please contact the research team at [email protected] (Principal Investigator) or [email protected] (Research Assistant).
