Last year was an exceptionally awful year for forest fires in Canada and this year, the fires aren't letting up. Fires are burning out of control across the country.

GlobalMedic is responding by donating fire skids to rural and indigenous fire departments. These skids include a 1000L tank, a pump and hose, and can be mounted on a pick up truck to quickly extinguish fires in hard to reach areas.

The fires in Brazil are wide spread. A state of emergency has been declared and they're telling people to stay home to avoid breathing in the smoke. GlobalMedic is responding. We are going to send fire skids to Brazil to put more firefighting assets on the front lines.

Each skid has a tank, pump and hose and is designed to sit in the back of a pick up truck. This can help firefighters reach fires in areas that harder to access with large tanker trucks.

400 sets of bunker gear. One mission. Protecting the people who protect their communities.

At GlobalMedic and our sister agency, GlobalFire, we believe in getting the Right Aid to the Right People at the Right Time.

Thanks to dedicated volunteers like firefighter Bob from the London, Ontario region, approximately 400 sets of donated bunker gear are getting a second life. After collecting the gear from local fire departments and delivering it to our warehouse, our volunteers carefully inspect, sort, and prepare every set before it's shipped to volunteer firefighters in countries like Paraguay and Bolivia.

In many communities around the world, firefighters respond to emergencies with little or no protective equipment. By redistributing this essential gear, we're helping improve firefighter safety, strengthen emergency response, and protect the communities they serve.

There has been a tragic outbreak of wildfires across Northwestern Ontario, where hot, dry conditions have forced evacuations and displaced residents from several First Nations and remote communities.

To strengthen frontline response, GlobalFire sent additional fire skid units north of Thunder Bay. Each unit includes a 1,000-litre water tank, pump, and hose that can be mounted onto an existing pickup truck, giving departments an additional firefighting asset and allowing more firefighters to deploy closer to active fire zones.

Nearly 700 fire skid units has been distributed from coast to coast across Canada helping expand the capacity of departments that may not have dedicated wildland firefighting equipment.

By making better use of vehicles and personnel already available in these communities, fire skids help local departments mobilize more resources and strengthen their ability to protect communities threatened by wildfires.
