🎧✨ What foods make you feel at home?

As Scarborough Arts' inaugural Foodie Artist in Residence, Shanika () is exploring the connections between food, memory, identity, and belonging.

Shanika shares the inspiration behind her project and reflects on conversations from the Eat More Scarborough Food Tours 🍜, where community members shared the foods, flavours, and traditions that bring them back to childhood and make them feel at home.

📣 Calling all youth artists in Kingston–Galloway/Orton Park!

Are you passionate about poetry, community arts, and creative placemaking? Scarborough Arts is seeking two artist mentees to join Cultural Hotspot: KGO & Poetry as Gathering, an exciting new mentorship opportunity in collaboration with Tender Possibilities.

Working alongside poet and facilitator Farhia Tato, selected mentees will help shape and deliver a community-based poetry program in the Kingston-Galloway/Orton Park neighbourhood, while gaining hands-on experience in arts facilitation, community engagement, program development, and artist mentorship.

✨ Mentorship from Scarborough Arts and Tender Possibilities
💵 $2,600 Honorarium
📍 Access to workspace at Scarborough Arts
🗓️ 100 Hours, June–October 2026

Mentees will contribute to program design, poet curation, outreach activities, and poetry workshops that bring together youth, young adults, and older adults through shared cultural experiences. Thank you to the City of Toronto for supporting this opportunity!

Weekend One of The World in a Block Party is just ONE WEEK AWAY 🎉

We’re turning the parking lot of the Birchmount Community Centre at 93 Birchmount Avenue into a whole world this weekend—music, art, food, and community all in one place.

🚨 Reminder: Parking at the community centre will be limited. Please don’t park on nearby streets (tickets are very likely). Transit is strongly encouraged.
