Junior League of Toronto

One of the benefits of membership in the Junior League of Toronto is the opportunity for emerging leaders to attend conferences hosted by the Association of Junior Leagues International. Two JLT members recently attended the EDGE Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX.

These conferences offer a wonderful occasion to meet like-minded women, all volunteering their time and expertise to improve their communities. Together they learn strategies to improve our programs and make a bigger local impact.

Conference attendance conferences provides an opportunity to meet many dynamic women from Junior League chapters across North America and to share their Leagues’ successes, discuss and solve challenges, and exchange best practices.

On September 23, the JLT held its AGM, featuring an inspiring presentation from WoodGreen about the Homeward Bound program and the amazing work they do supporting vulnerable women and families in our community. Looking forward to an amazing year of women's leadership in action.

September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day are dedicated to honouring Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities, and to recognize the lasting impacts of Canada’s Residential School system. These commemorations provide an opportunity to deepen Canada’s understanding of the intergenerational effects of residential schools and to reflect on their enduring legacy as part of the ongoing journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation.

On September 30, we encourage everyone to to wear orange in honour of Residential School Survivors and their families, and in remembrance of the children who never returned home. We also encourage people to read the 94 Calls to Action submitted by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, and to explore the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

This weekend, JLT members and women interested in learning more about the Junior League of Toronto gathered for our annual September picnic at Trinity Bellwoods Park. Our September picnics are a wonderful way to reconnect after the summer, welcome new faces, and share what makes JLT so special.

At the heart of JLT are the connections we make with one another. Time and time again, our members tell us that the friendships, support and relationships they build with like-minded women are one of the most meaningful parts of their JLT experience.

Here’s to reconnecting, making new friends and building community together!
