What gives you hope? 💜

At our Feminist Creator Prize celebration, we asked creators, supporters, staff, judges, and community members to share what gives them hope.

Their answers were a powerful reminder that hope can be found in community, creativity, collective action, and the people working every day to create a more equitable future.

Now we want to hear from you.

The Canadian Women’s Foundation welcomes the Government of Canada’s “AI for All” strategy as a first step to addressing artificial intelligence and the impacts on women and gender-diverse people.

“AI for All” recognizes that AI-fueled online abuse disproportionately targets women, girls, and gender-diverse people, especially those facing intersecting forms of discrimination. To address this, updating laws and standards should include enforceable platform accountability, safety-by-design and prevention requirements, and an independent regulator among other safeguards.

In this week’s episode of Alright, Now What?, we’re joined by writer, speaker, advocate, and 2026 Feminist Creator Prize judge Libby Ward.

Known for her honest and relatable conversations about motherhood, mental health, and the pressures women face, Libby shares how what began as a personal creative outlet grew into a platform that has helped thousands of women feel less alone.

Together, we explore the hidden mental load women carry, the everyday ways gendered expectations continue to shape our homes, workplaces, and relationships, and why so many women blame themselves for challenges that are actually systemic.

Libby also reflects on the power of storytelling and why women deserve rest, joy, and support simply because they are human.

As Sexual Violence Prevention Month comes to a close, we're highlighting the work of The Dragonfly Centre, the only sexual assault centre serving a region of Alberta roughly the size of New Brunswick.

Through prevention education, survivor support, and community outreach, Dragonfly is helping create safer communities and challenge gender-based violence before it begins.

As Dragonfly's Youth Education Coordinator Ashley shares in her story, teaching young people about body safety, consent, and healthy boundaries can help build healthier relationships and interrupt cycles of violence: https://canadianwomen.org/blog/together-we-change-the-story/

With more than 2 million people in Canada experiencing physical or sexual assault in the previous year, prevention and support services are more important than ever.

Your support helps the Canadian Women's Foundation fund organizations like Dragonfly Centre, ensuring survivors can access critical support and resources when and where they need them most.

Last week, we gathered to celebrate the 2026 Feminist Creator Prize and the incredible creators using digital storytelling to spark conversations, change perspectives, and inspire change.

We were so honoured to celebrate this year’s winners, Jenna Barnable, Selam Debs, Olivia Ho, and Anne-Marie Gagné, whose work continues to shape more inclusive and empowering digital spaces.

A sincere thank you to The Collective Women’s Summit whose incredible support and expertise helped curate an evening of celebration, community, joy and hope.

We received over 400 applications nominations for the 2026 Feminist Creator Prize. A special thank you to this year’s judges, Jenn Harper, Libby Ward, and Michelle Osbourne, for the care and thoughtfulness they brought to the selection process, and to donor Liz Rykert, whose generosity made it possible for four winners to be selected this year.

*Correction: The Canadian Women’s Foundation welcomes Newfoundland and Labrador’s decision. The province joins Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia as the fourth to make a formal declaration addressing violence against women and gender-diverse people. British Columbia has recognized the epidemic but is yet to make a declaration. (See YWCA BC's statement: https://ywcabc.org/blog/2026/05/newfoundland-and-labrador-declares-gender-based-violence-epidemic-bc-must-follow)

Together, provinces are signaling that gender-based violence is an urgent, national issue that demands coordinated action between communities, organizations, and government. We welcome N.L.’s declaration of a gender-based violence epidemic: https://ow.ly/1gyy50Z5mce

We thank the advocates, organizations, survivors, and allies who have pushed for this decision across the country. We also thank municipalities for their labour and advocacy that has garnered provincial attention.
