🧼 Public Health Ontario has launched a new Hand Hygiene Program!

The modernized Hand Hygiene Program builds on success of the previous program (Just Clean Your Hands) and introduces new strategies for addressing ongoing hand hygiene challenges across different health care settings.

Join Public Health Ontario for a webinar introducing the new program on Wednesday, October 21.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

✅Define the continuing need for hand hygiene improvement.
✅Describe the new PHO hand hygiene program, including the incorporated improvement ✅strategies.
✅Identify how the new hand hygiene program can be implemented/utilized within their specific setting.
✅Discuss how the new program can be used to address persistent hand hygiene challenges.

It was great to connect and learn from regulators across the country this week at the Canadian Network of Agencies for Regulation (CNAR) conference!

We were also pleased to contribute to the conversation. College Deputy Registrar Anita Ashton joined fellow panelists, Louise Gleeson and John McIntyre, for a session on how regulators can identify and reduce barriers for neurodivergent registrants navigating complaints and hearings.

Thank you to CNAR and everyone who joined the conversation about building more inclusive and equitable regulatory processes.

Physiotherapists may be among the first health-care providers to notice signs that an older adult is experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario offers free resources to help practitioners recognize warning signs, have supportive conversations, and respond appropriately when concerns arise.

Remember, if you suspect a resident of a long-term care home, nursing home or retirement home is at risk of harm, you must report it to the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority and the Ministry of Long-Term Care.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the ongoing trauma and harm caused by Canada's residential school system.

The health inequities that Indigenous Peoples experience today are a direct result of residential schools and other harmful government policies.

As a health regulator, we recognize that working to close these gaps is an essential part of our public protection mandate.

We are committed to undertaking this work with humility and centering Indigenous voices and knowledge as we do so.
