As many of you are aware, the Metro zone has been struggling to remain viable through the past few seasons. The closure of North Park Bowl at the end of 2023 cut our number of member leagues by half, also significantly decreasing our individual member numbers as we moved through this season.
Despite our best efforts as a board to fundraise and solicit new members, we’ve reached the point where being sustainable as our own zone is no longer possible. At the O5PBA Annual General Meeting this past weekend, a motion was passed to realign Metro Toronto so it will now be part of the York Simcoe 5 Pin Bowlers Association.
Long time Metro board member Sarah Gorman has been elected to the YS board and I’m sure she will represent the best interests of bowlers from C4 Centre and Parkway Bowl moving forward.
Thank you to our board members past and present for all that you’ve done to create the legacy we leave behind as a zone, and to everyone who has bowled in a Metro league and/or represented Metro on the provincial or national stage, thank you for your commitment and passion for the game in the Toronto area.
This may be the end of an era but the friendships created as members of the Metro Toronto zone is more like a family and our memories will last a lifetime. Thank you for embracing me to be part of it all.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer and renewed success as part of York Simcoe…
