A few weeks ago, we shared that daraxonrasib was emerging as one of the most important developments pancreatic cancer has seen in years.
Now, there is another step forward.
As we mark Clinical Trials Day today, this update reflects the critical role clinical research plays in moving new treatment options forward.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a “safe to proceed” letter to , allowing the company to begin an Expanded Access Program for daraxonrasib in patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer who have exhausted all other treatment options. Daraxonrasib is not yet approved; however, this program is intended to allow access to the investigational drug outside of a clinical trial. At present, this Expanded Access Program is limited to patients in the United States.
For Canadians, this is not approval yet. But it is a positive sign and a reminder of why faster access to new treatment options is so important.
For patients and families facing pancreatic cancer now, progress like this shows that new options are moving closer. In a disease where advances have been far too limited for far too long, that is significant.
Pancreatic Cancer North America exists to push for this kind of change: earlier detection, better treatment options, and improved survival.
