Meet AMBROSIA!

Flat Coated Retriever Mix | Medium | 3years old | Spayed, Female | Good with dogs | No cats | Sweet, and playful | Located: Burlington, Ontario (at Burlington Animal Services)

Ambrosia is one of those dogs who brings joy wherever she goes. Sweet, playful, affectionate, and full of personality, she has quickly become a favourite among the staff and visitors at Burlington Animal Services.

She loves to play, enjoys affection, and has no shortage of enthusiasm for life. Ambrosia would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for an active, fun-loving dog who is always ready for the next adventure — followed, of course, by some well-earned cuddle time.

Ambrosia is a strong girl who can be jumpy when she gets excited, so she is looking for someone willing to bring her back to the basics with training and help her channel all that enthusiasm. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, she has so much potential.

She does well with other dogs but is not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. Ambrosia has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has tested negative for heartworm.

Ambrosia has tested positive for Lyme disease but is currently asymptomatic, and her bloodwork and urine testing have come back normal. Her future family should keep her on consistent tick prevention and work with their veterinarian to monitor her health over time.

Ambrosia has plenty of love, energy, and personality to share. Now she just needs someone to give her the chance to shine. 🐾

We’re so grateful to have partnered with Co.Vet - Veterinary Copilot for our most recent veterinary services trip in Poplar Hill First Nation this past June.

Remote clinics move fast. Dozens of animals come through in a day, often with limited connectivity and a small team wearing many hats. Partnering with CoVet ahead of the trip meant we could capture clean, accurate records as we went, instead of losing hours to paperwork at the end of long clinic days.

A huge thank you to our account manager Ceara for getting us fully set up and our dashboard customized before we left, and to Co-Founder Mike for getting this pilot off the ground with his incredible team. Thank you as well to our partner Huntington Animal Hospital, who spared Dr. Lisa and technician John for the trip.

The time we saved on records this time around gave us even more time revisiting familiar faces, meeting new ones, and making sure every animal got the attention they needed. We're excited to keep using CoVet across our work in the GTA and Northern Ontario, and stay tuned for a new accessible care initiative launching in downtown Toronto in the coming months. 🙏

A heartfelt thank you to The Eric S. Margolis Foundation for their generous support of Urban Tails Animal Support Network's farmed animal sanctuary residents. 💛 We are blown away by your generosity and support for us and the animals.

While we don’t often post about our small sanctuary, it is a very real and ongoing part of our work. Much of this care is quietly covered out of pocket by our founder, so this donation is deeply meaningful and will make an immediate difference for the animals who call our sanctuary home.

This gift will help us cover veterinary appointments, upcoming hay, feed and shavings costs, and support the build of a new, safe aviary-style enclosure for our newest residents: eight chicks hatched as part of a pilot program connected to a much larger goal.

These chicks are part of an effort to help build evidence and momentum toward changes in Canada’s egg industry. Globally, an estimated seven billion day-old male chicks are killed every year because they cannot lay eggs and are not considered profitable to raise for meat. This pilot is one small step in exploring a more humane path forward, including policy and regulatory change in Canada.

For these eight little lives, the support from means safety, care, and a chance to grow. For our sanctuary, it means relief, stability, and the ability to keep providing a comfortable life for all of the animals who call this place home.

What a privilege it was to complete another trip to Poplar Hill First Nation over this past weekend. This was our third time delivering services in the community, and it was so nice to see so many familiar faces, both human and animal! 🩺🐾

Before our partnership with the community began, veterinary services had never been available. Poplar Hill is a fly-in-only community for most of the year, with winter road access when weather permits. This means a great deal of work goes into planning and preparing for a trip like this. From ordering and packing supplies, coordinating with logistics companies to ship everything north, arranging travel, preparing and packing food for the team, and organizing the flow of the clinic days, there are countless details involved.

While preparing for this trip, we were also navigating the logistics of shipping the new animal wellness service building, which was constructed off-site, into the community. Our next step is to get it assembled and ready so we can use it during our next visit!

None of this would be possible without the hard work of our team, the volunteers who joined us, and the partner organizations that help sustain this work. Thank you to PetSmart Charities Canada for funding these vital services. Thank you SPCA International for the generous donation of veterinary supplies, including gloves, gauze, thermometers, and sharps containers. Thank you IDEXX for sending us 4Dx tests. This was our first time testing for heartworm in the community (all negatives).

And finally, thank you to our team members in the community, Shaun and Brenda for all of your hard work, driving, coordinating, and the good times; Urban Tails team members Bianca, Ana, and Brianne and John and Dr. Lisa from Huntington Animal Hospital for your time, dedication, and compassion while delivering these services.

Meg is a 7-year-old female (spayed) Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) looking for the right forever home. She is affectionate, playful, intelligent, and full of personality. Meg loves being close to her people and forms strong bonds once trust is established.

She enjoys long walks, outdoor adventures, exploring new places, and soaking up all the smells along the way. She also loves toys, treats, bully sticks, and having a job or activity to keep her engaged. Like many Heelers, she has energy to burn and would thrive with regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Meet Dex! This bright, affectionate, 2 year old American Bulldog mix is full of personality and heart. He’s a people-loving, social dog who thrives on connection, routine, and having a job to do. He’s happiest when he knows what’s expected of him and has someone who can offer clear structure, consistency, and a healthy outlet for his energy.

Dex is being supported through our Community program, and we’re hoping to help his person find a unique, collaborative situation — ideally someone interested in caring for him part-time while working in partnership with his current owner, who is navigating scheduling constraints. This arrangement would allow him to stay connected to his person while ensuring his needs are fully met during this busy period.

With that being said, his person is open to discussing rehoming if an exceptional, well-matched home comes along. Dex’s adoption will be facilitated directly with his current owner, Urban Tails is acting as the intermediary.

OVER 3,000LB OF PET FOOD DISTRIBUTED IN 2026 SO FAR🐶🐱

Our pet food and supply pantry has distributed over 3,000lb of wet and dry food to our Southern Ontario partners so far this year. We are partnered with some fantastic women’s shelters and social service organizations in the GTA and are proud to be able to support the clients of these organizations who are caring for pets.

We also proudly support individuals through our Street Support program, meeting pet guardians where they’re at in the city who are in need of food, supplies, or other resources for their companions.

LUNA IS LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME🐾

Luna is a beautiful 4-year-old girl with so much love to give. She was adopted through Urban Tails as a puppy, but has been returned to rescue through no fault of her own.

She’s the perfect mix of sweet, affectionate, cuddly, independent, and playful — she loves being close to her people just as much as she loves a good game of fetch. She is good with other dogs her size, but would prefer a home without small dogs. Luna has been good with dog-savvy kids and has had some exposure to cats.
