Dharma Friends

Dharma Friends Dharma Friends supports Buddhist meditation practice among members and friends of Toronto's LGBT community, bringing together diverse Buddhist traditions.

Dharma Friends was started in 1999 to support Buddhist meditation practice among members and friends of Toronto's GLBT (gay, le***an, bisexual and transgender) community. Our members come from a variety of different Buddhist traditions. We have Zen, Tibetan and Theravadan practitioners. We have members who attend a Buddhist centre regularly, and some with no connection to a centre or tradition. So

me of our members aren't Buddhist, but come for silent meditation in a GLBT positive environment. Some of our members have many years of meditation experience, and others have none at all before they come for the first time. In addition to regular meditation sessions, we also have speakers and occasionally run one-day retreats. If you would like more information, take a look at our events and past events pages. Dharma Friends also distributes an e-mail newsletter called Breathing Space to keep our members informed about upcoming events and issues.
