Toronto Women's City Alliance

Toronto Women's City Alliance Making Equality Matter What are some of the issues facing women? This is further compounded for those with intersecting identities. What is our campaign?

Toronto Women’s City Alliance (formerly the Toronto Women’s Call to Action) was formed in 2004 by a diverse group of women who have been organizing to end the growing silence and invisibility of girls’ and women’s voices. Racism, poverty, lack of affordable and appropriate services, inadequate planning, unemployment, underemployment, discrimination, domestic violence and sexual assault remain the

alarming realities for many girls and women. Establishing the Toronto Women’s Equality Office. Municipal governments need to be accountable to women, who make up 52% of the population. We want an office that has research/policy capacity to apply a gender-based analysis to the city’s policies. To learn more about our campaign and sign a petition, please visit www.twca.ca. What are our Goals?

• Ensuring political commitment to
and action on anti-racism and women’s
human rights;

• Removing barriers to women’s active
participation in all spheres of public
life;

• Securing an equal share in all decisionmaking
processes;

• Institutionalizing inclusive,
democratic and participatory processes;

• Supporting women across their
diverse backgrounds to meet their
rights and needs through systemic
institutional change;

• Reversing cutbacks to services to
women and initiate gender-responsive
budgeting.
