Soaring COVID-19 cases in the Newfoundland and Labrador are linked to schools. We need to learn the lessons! Ontario needs better protections to make school safe: no more than 15 students in a class, better ventilation, and PAID SICK DAYS for all parents and for workers inside and outside the education system.
"Most cases connected to 1 high school ... "Right now, it appears that most of the cases are within one school," Fitzgerald said, adding that the virus is largely spreading through close contacts and recreational activities. ... Meanwhile, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District also announced late Monday night that high schools in the metro area have been closed for at least a couple of days. ... Fourteen of the new cases announced Tuesday are under 19 years old, with the others ranging in age from their 20s to over 70. Twenty-two females and eight males are affected."
It's the second-highest single-day total of new cases in the province since the start of the pandemic, prompting N.L.'s chief medical officer to introduce new restrictions in the capital city area.
