Statement Calling on Jagmeet Singh to Resign

We have not said much about the state of the New Democratic Party of Canada for some time now. However, given the current leader's failure to lead every time he is given a chance, it is time that we call on Jagmeet Singh to resign as leader of the NDP and for the party to end its confidence and supply agreement with the Justin Trudeau Liberals.

This is a page that has actively supported the NDP at every opportunity since it was started in December 2014, because we want the NDP to succeed at delivering a better life for working class people.

The Liberals are in large part deeply unpopular because they are allowing the housing crisis and the cost of living crisis to worsen without any real commitment to addressing these issues, which realistically requires a large public investment in housing and other programs. Additionally, they have shown no serious commitment to implementing effective and robust dental care and pharmacare programs.

The NDP leadership’s excessive acceptance of half-measures or less, driven by fear of losing elections, either indicates a lack of confidence in its ability to win, or an alignment too close to the Liberal Party. This creates a self-fulfilling prophecy where voters see the NDP as a party that either doesn't believe in its own potential or doesn't believe it needs to be that different from the Liberals. There's also a valid impression that those in the NDP leadership prioritize their own job security and pensions over advocating for and achieving substantial progress.

Actions speak louder than words. Singh can make all the social media posts criticizing the Liberals in the world, but what voters see is him ultimately giving confidence to the Liberal policy agenda at every step. As a result of his failed leadership, the NDP is poised to face significant losses in the upcoming election, a situation that worsens with each passing day he remains leader. The public has lost confidence in him, and for the sake of retaining any seats, he needs to resign as leader immediately.
