Austra Gulens and Dr. Tom Appleton joined The Social for an important conversation about arthritis — from the common misconceptions to the reality of living with a chronic illness.

These are the conversations we need to have more often. The more Canadians understand about arthritis, the better equipped we are to recognize it, talk about it and advocate for better diagnosis, treatment, care and support.

Fashion and philanthropy came together for a brighter future for women’s health.

What a night at Sip & Shop, co-hosted with our friends at DEAN DAVIDSON JEWELRY. Guests enjoyed a private shopping experience, with a portion of all sales supporting our women’s health initiatives—including groundbreaking arthritis research and support programs.

Arthritis is a women’s health issue. 1 in 4 women in Canada lives with arthritis, yet women remain underserved by research and overlooked in care.

Thank you to our amazing co-hosts, Dean Davidson, and to Masala Wh**ky, Mave & Chez, Victoria Marshman, and all of our guests and supporters.

This is what it looks like to take women’s health seriously. Together, we’re helping build a future where every woman with arthritis is seen, heard, and supported.

Tucker was just 21 when rheumatoid arthritis began causing severe pain, swelling and fatigue.

It took two years—and worsening symptoms—before he finally received a diagnosis.

Today, arthritis still affects every aspect of his life.

“If I had been given the option of biologic medication when I was first diagnosed, a lot of my current issues could have been avoided,” says Tucker.

Tucker’s experience shows what can happen when people don’t get the right diagnosis and treatment early enough.

Arthritis Action Now is calling for earlier diagnosis and better access to treatment, so people with arthritis can get the right care at the right time—and have a better chance at protecting their future.

You can help build a clearer picture of how arthritis affects women’s health – and where meaningful change is needed.

Arthritis Consumer Experts has launched the National Survey on Women and Arthritis to ensure that the voices and experiences of women living with arthritis are heard by the people who shape healthcare policies, programs and access to treatment.

The survey is open to women living with any form of arthritis in Canada and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The National Survey on Women and Arthritis is for women living with arthritis in Canada. The Survey results will help ACE identify where arthritis care is meeting the needs of women and where critical gaps exist.

6M+ Canadians live with arthritis — and that number is expected to reach 10M by 2055.

Yet arthritis receives only a fraction of the research funding, policy attention and urgency this growing health crisis demands.

Arthritis Fire Ball Toronto is ready to change that.

Together, we can:
🧬 Advance research toward better treatments and outcomes
🫶 Deliver life-changing programs and support
❤️ Help people living with arthritis thrive

Thank you to our Trailblazer Sponsor Greg Steers — your leadership and generosity are helping drive our mission forward.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time for remembrance, reflection, and action as we honour Survivors of residential schools, as well as the families and communities affected by this painful legacy.

With guidance from our National Indigenous Advisor, Dr. Catherine Cook, our staff took time this week to listen, learn and discuss the work needed to meaningfully address the disparities Indigenous Peoples continue to experience in access to care and health outcomes.

We remain committed to reconciliation and doing our part to help create a healthier and more equitable future, guided by the voices, experiences, and leadership of Indigenous Peoples and communities.
