We are excited to invite you to an Indigenous Beading and Cultural Exchange hosted by Folklorico Filipino, Qjiel Mariano, and Marissa Magneson to celebrate Filipino Heritage month and Indigenous People’s Month.

Throughout the 2-Hour gathering, participants will be guided through a traditional Gaddang beading workshop led by Qjiel Mariano, an Indigenous Gaddang Artist and Global Health Scholar. He will be joined by Marissa Mageson, a Cree-Métis artist, photographer, educator, and workshop facilitator.

We will be discovering themes of water, relationship to land, Indigenous Advocacy, healing and more!

Participants are invited to bring offerings of food, sound, movement, nature, poetry, etc for the gathering.

PWYC: Recommended $20-25 to support Qjiel’s beading practice.

☀️ SUMMER YOUTH DANCE PROGRAM IS BACK! ☀️

Our six-week dance program at Filipino Centre Toronto is coming back starting in July!

No experience is necessary to join. Throughout the program, dancers will learn about and explore dance styles from the most famous dance suite called Barrio. By the end of the program, dancers will have learned a full dance to showcase to everyone! Each young dancer will receive a FFC T-shirt, and snacks and water will be provided during the program. ☀️👯👯‍♀️

You are invited for an action-packed evening of martial arts and dance! Our instructors will be teaching Sakuting, a dance that depicts the combat between Ilocano Christians and Non-Christians during Spanish Colonial Rule. Many of the dance movements stem from Arnis, the National Martial Art of the Philippines. Arnis utilizes a lot of weapons in the martial art, such as sticks, knives, and open-hand combat. We have partnered with Jo Maramba to teach you Arnis during this workshop as well! 🎶👯🤺

Funds from the workshop will be used to help FFC host Sir Faisal Monal, a Manguindanon culture bearer, in mid-October.

Filipino communities are organizing Luksang Bayan -- a prayer vigil for the victims of the Lap Lapu day tragedy in Vancouver, BC. Tonight , April 27, 2025 at 8pm at Bathurst and Wilson parkette. Please wear all black. There will be another vigil on Tuesday at Nathan Philip Square at 7pm. More details to follow.
