One of the most meaningful parts of our Fall production, "Harvest Justice: Twice the Speed of Lightning", was collaborating with artists who share our belief in theatre as a catalyst for social change.

Today, performer Manuel Chaves reflects on his experience working with Mixed Company Theatre and bringing this powerful story to life.

We're excited to continue the journey of "Harvest Justice" next season by taking the production into schools, where it can spark important conversations about migrant workers' rights, civic responsibility, and the realities of Canada's Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program.

If you believe in the power of theatre to educate, inspire, and create meaningful dialogue, we invite you to support our Spring Campaign. Your donation will help us bring "Harvest Justice" to more students and communities, while supporting other impactful projects planned for the coming season.

We're excited to share that in our upcoming season, we plan to tour our newly developed Forum Theatre production, "Worn with Pride", to communities across Toronto!

"Worn with Pride" was developed through theatre workshops and conversations with 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults and tells a universal story drawn from the shared experiences, histories, and perspectives that emerged out of this collaborative process. Through storytelling, participation, and dialogue, the production creates space for intergenerational conversation while celebrating the voices, histories, and experiences of older 2SLGBTQIA+ community members.

A few weeks ago, we hosted a script feedback reading and received valuable insights from community members, artists, and advocates. Their contributions will help shape the next draft of this powerful production as we continue preparing to bring it to community spaces throughout Toronto.

Support for projects like this helps us continue creating accessible, socially engaged arts programming that brings people together through dialogue, connection, and shared experience.

Today, we're spotlighting one of the projects planned for our upcoming season: "Harvest Justice: Twice the Speed of Lightning", an interactive Forum Theatre production exploring the realities faced by migrant agricultural workers in Canada.

Through storytelling, audience participation, and dialogue, the production invites students and communities to engage with conversations around labour, migration, workplace safety, and systemic inequality. Developed through a community-engaged process and drawing from real migrant worker experiences, "Harvest Justice" creates space for reflection, empathy, and critical discussion about how to support workers in Canada's Seasonal Agricultural Workers program.

As part of our 2026–27 programming, we’re working to bring this production to students and educational communities across Ontario. Forum Theatre is designed not only to be watched, but experienced collaboratively, encouraging audiences to step into the conversation, explore different perspectives, and imagine possibilities for change together.

Support for projects like "Harvest Justice" helps us continue creating accessible, socially engaged theatre that connects communities through dialogue, participation, and storytelling.

The second image has an audience member’s testimonial in the middle from the production of “I Carry with Me” stating “‘I Carry with Me’ is an exceptional play, highlighting the abuse and discrimination that happens that most white people do not experience. Happy World Theatre Day! We are incredibly grateful to be delivering new and impactful Forum Theatre programming this season that engages with important social justice challenges today.

After a successful public script reading, we rehearsed and presented "Harvest Justice: Twice the Speed of Lightning" for audiences in Guelph and Toronto in the Fall. This new play by Catherine Frid brings to light the injustices faced by migrant workers in Canada's Seasonal Agricultural Workers program.

We recently completed a series of in-person performances of "I Carry with Me" a presentation written by Heather von Atzigen that was originally developed virtually in 2023. This presentation looks at the differences and commonalities in what we carry as human beings from different racial and cultural backgrounds.

Looking ahead, we are excited to soon bring to audiences new presentations that have been in development over the last few months including our "Aging with Pride" script.

We want to thank our incredible community members, artists, supporters, and partners who have enabled us to deliver these innovative programs this season.

We are excited to build on these successes and continue creating theatre that educates, engages, and empowers equity-deserving communities.

To support this work, you can donate to MCT through the link in our bio!

A few weeks ago we finished our community tour of "I Carry with Me" and we are so appreciative of everyone who made it possible!

To our amazing community partners, thank you for hosting the show and helping to bring these stories to your communities.

We're deeply grateful to our audience members for your presence, reflection, and the perspectives you shared. We learned so much from everyone's contributions that we will carry forward into our future work.

Thank you to all the artists, stage crew, volunteers, and staff whose dedication and artistry made this work deeply impactful.

We’re incredibly thankful to our funders and those who donated to this project. Your belief in this work and support has been instrumental to the success of the tour.

Together, we created spaces for honest, moving, and challenging conversations about racism. We hope this show will continue to spark reflection and action in support of inclusive communities moving forward.
