Artisans of Syria a social enterprise developed by RCJP that brings together a group of Syrian newcomer women who are skilled handicraft designers and creators. The project enables the women to create traditional and new products in a shared space, with shared costs, and with a community of peers. All revenue from handicraft sales, after the costs of raw materials, go directly to the women who cre

ated them. The project provides an alternative form of self-employment for women who may need a jumpstart to other entrepreneurial initiatives or traditional forms of employment in their new country. The community of talented women are the backbone of the project. The core project objective is enabling a shared, productive space for community, which is essential for the health, well-being, dignity, agency, and integration of Syrian newcomer women and their families. The creation and sale of beautiful Syrian-Canadian handicrafts are the means to this end.

Earlier this year, a group of Syrian Newcomer women settled into their new homes in Canada, a foreign country with a different culture. The women decided to be proactive and formed Artisans of Syria to help themselves and each other adapt and be part of our beautiful Canadian community.

Today, because of the support we have been receiving from our donors, we are getting closer to our goal and keeping the project alive. We want to thank COSTI Immigrant Svc Uber Canada and BFC Brands for Canada for their support and trust in Artisans of Syria.

You can also help now and be part of changing someone’s life! For more information please contact [email protected]

“It was actually really heartening because she told me that she loved Spider-Man and she knew Marvel,” Momtaz said in an interview on Monday. “She could not believe that the people who were behind Spider-Man had any interest in her life and had heard of her.”

Adham has made 28 trips into Syria and has distributed over 20,000 toys to children in Aleppo and surrounding refugee camps. He says "words can't describe" the feeling of handing out toys to children living through a war.

It seems like such a little thing — a stuffed animal or doll but for the kids in Aleppo toys from Rami Adham means so much. The toy smuggler sneaks across borders and front lines to give Syrian children stuck in war a little bit of childhood.
