Today, on World Refugee Day, we honour the courage, resilience, and strength of refugees who have rebuilt their lives, families, and dreams in new communities.

This year's theme, "Until Everyone Is Safe," reminds us that safety is about more than shelter or security. True safety is also found in belonging- in being welcomed, valued, connected, and able to show up as your authentic self.

At Newcomer Kitchen, we see every day how community creates safety. When women gather around a table, share their stories, celebrate their cultures, and support one another, they create spaces where everyone feels seen, respected, and at home.

We are inspired by the resilience of refugee women who continue to transform challenges into opportunities and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Because safety begins with belonging. And until everyone is safe, we will continue building communities of welcome, connection, and hope.

Proudly introducing our Manifesto Towel E 🤗

Before Newcomer Kitchen Canada became what it is today, it began with a powerful idea: newcomer women have culinary skills, stories, and talent that deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

In 2016, our founder Cara Benjamin-Pace helped launch the Willing To Work program The Depanneur creating space for newcomer women to build confidence, gain Canadian food industry experience, and move toward economic opportunity. With five years of IRCC funding, the program grew into a community of women learning, cooking, sharing, and building pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, and belonging.

Today, we carry that legacy forward with a renewed focus on newcomer women’s entrepreneurship, helping women turn culinary passions, cultural food traditions, and dreams into real opportunities.

And now, our next chapter is in motion. Our officially licensed FIFA World Cup 2026™ Cooling Towels are in full production for some exciting upcoming events 🇨🇦. Here is Cara at the big HQ with our Manifesto towel, which our team just 💓 inspired by lines from the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Manifesto and designed to pay homage to soccer scarves everywhere 💞.

Every towel bottle supports our From Sidelines to Startups: Savouring Success campaign, with 100% of proceeds funding training, mentorship, and market access for newcomer women launching food businesses.

From one kitchen in 2016 to a global football moment in 2026, this is a story of resilience, community, and what happens when women are given the opportunity to shine. Stay tuned. We cannot wait to share what is coming next. 📢⚽💨

Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending Toronto's opening FIFA World Cup 2026™ match 🇨🇦🇧🇦as guests of FIFA and as an Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Licensee 🇨🇦🙌.

One of the highlights was sharing the experience with our local production partner FM Promotions whose commitment to quality and community helped bring our cooling towel collection to life.

This campaign is about more than a product. It's about local collaboration, entrepreneurship, and the power of opportunity. From newcomer women building businesses through food, to a family-owned Toronto company producing our towels, every bottle represents a community coming together 💞

As fans from around the world filled the stadium, we were reminded that Toronto truly is a World in a City. The beautiful game brings people together, and we're proud that our limited-edition FIFA World Cup 2026™ Cooling Towels celebrate that spirit.

Our goal is simple: 5,000 acts of support through 5,000 cooling towel bottles, with proceeds helping newcomer women pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

This is what "From Sidelines to Startups" looks like. ⚽❤️🍴

Newcomer Kitchen Canada Relaunches with a Bold New Vision and FIFA World Cup 2026™ Collection.

After a challenging year marked by the loss of the federal government’s funding for Newcomer Kitchen’s Food Entrepreneurship Training Program, we are writing an exciting new chapter with financial support from The Northpine Foundation and City of Toronto City of Toronto Business Business Incubator & Commercialization Program.

Today, the organization officially relaunches as a federal entity Newcomer Kitchen Canada, signalling not only a comeback but an ambitious vision to expand opportunities for newcomer women food entrepreneurs across the country in an innovative social franchise model.

The relaunch is marked by the kick-off of a Limited Edition Collection of FIFA World Cup 2026™ Sport Cooling Towels, developed through FIFA's Local Licensee Program. Designed by Newcomer Kitchen and printed in Toronto by FM Promotions, the 3 different series of sport cooling towels come in FIFA World Cup 2026™ branded bottles with a clip lid. Each bottle contains 2 unique designs that reflect Toronto’s diverse culture as a FIFA HOST CITY. FIFA World Cup 26 Toronto

These towels symbolize the cool composure, determination, and resilience that newcomer women demonstrate every day as they navigate new beginnings, roll up their sleeves and build businesses, and create opportunities for themselves and their families. In many ways, they reflect the journey of our organization as well.

The campaign FROM SIDELINES TO STARTUPS: SAVOURING SUCCESS has a goal of selling 5,000 Cooling Towels. 100% of proceeds will fund the NKC Program to support newcomer women to launch their aspirational local food businesses. Grab more info and your towel on: https://www.newcomerkitchen.ca/fifa-info-page

Stay tuned, we're just getting warmed up. More goals, more stories, and more ways to celebrate Toronto through food, football, and belonging are coming soon! 🇨🇦⚽🏙️

Newcomer Kitchen along with FM Promotions will attend the opening game tomorrow as guests of FIFA World Cup 2026™ and will be available for interviews throughout the day.

4 Days. 100 Boys. 140 Lunches Served. 🎉🙌

What an incredible week hosting our 8th annual lunch cooking workshop with the Grade 7 students from Crescent boys private school.

Throughout the week, women from our food business program led fun, interactive cooking demonstrations and guided the boys through hands on preparation at each table. Together they cooked, shared stories, and learned about newcomers, entrepreneurship, and the power of community.

After lunch, the boys gathered in teams for a reflection exercise, discussing, drawing and presenting what the experience meant to them. One student summed it up beautifully: “Unity Creates Community.” We could not have said it better ourselves 💗

On the menu:

• Appetizer: Indian hummus spinach rolled paranthas
• Salad: Taiwanese cucumber and grape tomato salad
• Main: Kofta meatball curry with side parantha
• Dessert: Turkish Green Cake and assorted cookies
• Drink: Nigerian sorrel beverage

As we celebrate International Women’s Day today 🌺 we are especially proud to highlight the newcomer women who led this experience. Through food, leadership, and entrepreneurship, they continue to inspire the next generation and strengthen the communities we share. Thank you for the great work!!
