Ben-Gurion University Canada BGU Canada is the Canadian fundraising arm of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

We support the vision of Israel’s 1st Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, who said “It is in the Negev that the creativity and pioneer vigour of Israel shall be tested.” Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (CABGU) plays a vital role in sustaining David Ben-Gurion's vision of creating a world-class institution of education and research in the Israeli desert, nurturing the Negev community and sharing the University's expertise locally and around the globe.

Sunshine, swings, and so much heart, today we teed off in Toronto for the 2nd Annual BGU Desert Open in support of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

A massive thank you to Harry Lebovic, Dr. Wolf Lebovic, and the entire Lebovic Golf Club team for hosting us with such warmth and generosity. 🙏

BGU Canada extends its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Cst. Marc Pinizzotto. There are no words adequate for a loss like this.

Cst. Pinizzotto served the Toronto Police Service with dedication for 18 years. Today, we are reminded of the extraordinary courage it takes to put on a uniform and stand between our communities and harm, every single day.

We grieve alongside all of Toronto.

Thank you Montréal ✨

Last Tuesday night, our community demonstrated that the bond between Montreal and Israel remains as strong as ever.

Over 450 guests gathered for the BGU Canada Montreal Main Event, raising $850,000 in support of medical simulation training at Ben-Gurion University of the Negevurion University of the Negev.

We were moved by Noa Argamani's powerful testimony, and inspired by a fireside chat between Dan Senor and moderator Ben Mulroney on how Israel has become a galvanizing force in global politics — and what that means for the rise of antisemitism — and special guest, BGU President Prof. Danny Chamovitz sharing his vision for the future of BGU and the Negev.

We are honored to dedicate this evening in memory of Reuben Croll z"l, a longtime donor and leader whose legacy lives on through BGU.

Thank you to our lead donor Mrs. Roslyn Margles, and to everyone who came out to strengthen the bond between Montréal and the Negev.

Mardi dernier, notre communauté a démontré que le lien entre Montréal et Israël est indéfectible.

Plus de 450 personnes se sont réunies pour le BGU Canada Montréal Main Event, amassant 850,000 $ en soutien à la formation par simulation médicale à l'Université Ben-Gourion du Néguev.

Nous avons été touchés par le témoignage poignant de Noa Argamani, et inspirés par une conversation entre Dan Senor et le modérateur Ben Mulroney sur le rôle galvanisateur d'Israël dans la politique mondiale — et ce que cela signifie pour la montée de l'antisémitisme — en présence du president de BGU, le Prof. Daniel Chamovitz.

For more than 30 years, Toronto Holocaust survivor Nate Leipciger has dedicated his life to ensuring the world never forgets.

A survivor of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Nate has shared his testimony with thousands of students, educators, community leaders, and even Canada's Prime Minister.

As antisemitism rises around the world, Nate's story reminds us that remembrance is not only about the past.

It is about the future.

Today is World Hunger Day.

And in the Negev desert, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is proving that the most unlikely places can hold the most powerful answers.

In 2021, BGU launched the Moshe Mirilashvili Center for Food Security in the Desert, where scientists are developing vertical farming systems that grow fresh food without soil or rain, and atmospheric water generation technology that pulls clean drinking water directly from the air.

Five years later, the work continues, and BGU Canada is proud to stand behind every breakthrough.
