It has a name now.

The plaza that became the beating heart of Israel’s fight to bring them home is now officially Hostages Square.
From October 7, 2023 to January 26, 2026, the day the last hostage, Ran Gvili, came home, this chapter in Israel’s history will now be remembered for generations, by name.

BGU graduate Nadav Goldstein-Almog and his daughter Yam were murdered at Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7.

Now, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has inaugurated a portable XRF device in Nadav’s memory, donated by his family and Kafrit. The device enables advanced field analysis and is already being used by BGU researchers and students.

May Nadav and Yam’s memories continue to inspire discovery for generations to come. 💙

All week, scenes from the JCC Maccabi Games, hosted by Toronto inspired us!

What a tremendous undertaking and a huge Yasher Koach to the athletes, professionals, volunteers (including BGU Toronto Co-Chair David Dulberg who also chairs the JCC).

As part of the games, Israel's 2025 Eurovision voice and Nova survivor Yuval Raphael was in Toronto this week, rehearsing backstage with a gospel choir in a personalized Maple Leafs jersey before leading thousands in Od Yavo Shalom Aleinu, Hebrew and Arabic words for peace.

In her own words: "Performing with a gospel choir is a dream come true, and I'll never get tired of it." 😍

Two traditions, one voice, one prayer for all, right here in Toronto, Canada.

Nearly 100 young professionals. One room. One first-ever event for BGU Canada in Toronto. ✨

Last week's evening brought together speaker Shye Klein, a Nova Festival survivor, alongside BGU alumni Rakefet Galeen Azoulay and Einat Sandler Leib for real talk on entrepreneurship, AI, and resilience.

By the end of the night, the room had funded student scholarships at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
