Whether you're a new condo owner living in or renting out your unit, or an engaged condo board member or manager planning for the future of your building, you play an important role in the health, longevity, and sustainability of your home. As cities move toward net-zero targets, the decisions made today will directly impact your condominium—and your voice matters in shaping how your building responds.
The Better Condos Boot Camp (BCBC) is a free, one-day workshop that brings together condo managers, board members, and unit owners to learn, collaborate, and prepare for the future. You'll gain practical insights into upcoming regulations, building performance improvements, retrofit opportunities, and long-term planning strategies, while connecting with industry experts and others facing similar challenges.

By participating, you'll be better equipped to contribute to discussions about repairs, replacements, and capital planning, helping ensure your building remains comfortable, resilient, and financially sustainable for years to come.

Spaces are limited, and June 15 is the final BCBC workshop available this spring. If you've been considering attending, now is the time to reserve your spot.

Ready to plan for the environmental and financial sustainability of your condo? Visit our website at www.sbcanada.org/better-condos-boot-camp or contact us at [email protected] to register today!

Designing today’s buildings means planning for a future that will look very different from today.

The Future-Ready Design Guide, developed by the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA), supports design professionals across the Greater Golden Horseshoe in creating buildings and landscapes that are resilient, adaptable, and responsive to long-term climate, energy, and demographic change.

The guide encourages a shift away from short-term thinking toward life-cycle design—ensuring the buildings we deliver today remain valuable assets, not future liabilities.

Developed by TSA and funded by The Atmospheric Fund.

What does it take to plan and deliver a deep energy retrofit?

Minto is working toward net zero carbon by 2050 and has partnered with RDH Building Science to study a deep retrofit at their Castleview property.

This roadmap outlines the steps, costs, and potential savings involved, offering practical insight to help others take on similar projects.

The goal is clear. Share knowledge, scale action, and accelerate carbon reduction across the industry.

Read the paper:

Minto has been investing in electricity and natural gas reduction measures at their commercial buildings and multi-unit residential buildings for decades, and are now turning their attention towards the goal of achieving net zero carbon (NZC) by 2050.

Sustainable Buildings Canada’s Better Condos Boot Camp has been recognized as a 2026 Clean50 Top Project.

This national recognition highlights leadership and innovation in advancing Canada’s clean economy.

The program was developed to help condominium communities take action on deep energy retrofits and long-term planning.

It brings together industry experts and key decision-makers to address one of the biggest barriers to progress: alignment across condo stakeholders.

Join an upcoming Toronto session to learn how your building can prepare. More dates to come in the GTHA.
