Today is the National Day Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, a day to honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities.

As author David A. Robertson has taught us, stories can play a foundational role in reconciliation, shedding light on truths that have been buried and helping us build empathy and understanding.

All Book Bank locations are open today. We invite you to visit and read Indigenous-authored books in our Truth and Reconciliation display to learn more about the ongoing impact of residential schools.

Today and every day, we commit to supporting the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation by making space for everyone’s stories and ensuring that all children have access to Indigenous-authored books.

📖 🏀 Thank you to everyone who brought books to drop off or made a donation to the The Children's Book Bank at the game on Sunday, November 12!

🫶 We were honoured to be present for the last home game of the Tempo's historic first season. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to collect 107 new baby board books and graphic novels, two types of books that are always in high demand at our four locations across the city.

💐 With the aim of raising $200,000 for The Children’s Book Bank, the Story Soirée is uniquely positioned as the only gala in Toronto focused on the issue of children’s literacy.

This event brings together educators, authors, as well as business and community leaders for an evening of immersive storytelling and lasting impact.

On November 12th, we'll celebrate a milestone that’s changing the story for children across Toronto: 2 million books shared and counting.

We'll also honour champions of literacy with the presentation of three inaugural Community Literacy Awards, recognizing individuals helping to build a more literate future for every child.
