Sexual Assault Survivors' Support Line & Leadership (SASSL)

Sexual Assault Survivors' Support Line & Leadership (SASSL) Pro-SURVIVOR: We exist as a support network for all survivors of s*xual assault, both male and female.

Sexual Assault Survivors' Support Line & Leadership (SASSL) exists to provide support and referrals to survivors of s*xual violence, and education on s*xual violence issues to the York and surrounding community. SASSL provides:
*24 hour support line (We provide unbiased and non-judgmental peer support and referrals to survivors of s*xual assault and/or abuse.)
*Referrals
*Outreaches/ Public Educat

ion (on campus outreaches in residences, events/conferences, and off campus outreaches in highschools and other organizations)
*Events and Fundraising ( two of our major events include our December 6th Campaign and our HeArt fundraiser, we also hold free wen-do self defense sessions throughout the year)

SASSL is a pro-survivor, pro-feminist, and pro-diversity organization (see definitions below). We never question the legitimacy of a survivor’s experience. Pro- FEMINIST: We recognize that there is a disparity of power in our society between men and women. We work to provide an equally effective and respectful service for all survivors. Pro-DIVERSITY: We recognize and respect the different experiences that survivors from similar and different backgrounds face due to race, religion, ethnicity, s*x, ability, and/or s*xual orientation.

New text-based support chat! Join us today on Discord between 5:30 to 7:00 to chat with other disabled folks and get support.

Message or email ([email protected]) for access.

As an alternative to our video-based support chats over Zoom, we are introducing a new text-based option over Discord for all disabled, chronically ill, Deaf, hard of hearing, neurodivergent, mentally ill, and/or Mad folks. We are inclusive of all disabilities and respect self-diagnosis.

Our open-ended theme for the first meeting on Tuesday, July 14 between 5:30 and 7:00 is "Socializing and Social Distancing." This chat is facilitated by Kat, co-coordinator. She has multiple physical, sensory, and mental health disabilities.

Participants will need to create an account on Discord (discord.com/new) before joining the chat. Discord has a built-in text-to-speech program, which can be found in "User Settings" under "Text & Images", and then clicking the "Text-to-Speech" option.

If you have any questions or access needs, send us a message on Facebook or email ([email protected]).

Hope to see you folks there!
