WINTERFOLK TEAM: BACK AT THE TABLE 🎶

We’ve just wrapped our 24th year (amazing—I can hardly believe its 24 years!) and are already looking ahead to our 25th edition in February 2027. 🎶

The Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival team got together earlier this week for our annual post-festival dinner—sharing behind the scenes stories, figuring our what worked and what didn’t, laughing about the special moments, and revisiting all those “remember when's…”, reliving ther lowlights and highlights - while already starting to think about next year.

I’m proud to have led this highly dedicated, proficient, and hard-working team over many years. Team members include Melanie Peterson, new member Jessica Stuart, Wayne Neon, Cathy Anne, and not present new member Laura Fernandez, bringing together the local music community for four days of music and fun.

Just back from the annual Folk Canada festival directors’ retreat, this year at Elmhirst's Resort. I attended with Jessica Stuart, currently in mentorship as incoming director of the Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival for the 2028 festival.

Three days of workshops, seminars, lectures—trading ideas and strategies with other festival directors, sharing the day-to-day realities of running events — not to mention excellent cuisine, spontaneous jam sessions, and a bit of partying to cap off the evenings.

Thanks to Folk Canada (formerly Folk Music Ontario) for bringing everyone together—an engaging, worthwhile weekend all around.
