A powerful moment for community, leadership, and impact ✨

We were proud to host our first Black HR Professionals of Canada event in Nova Scotia, led by the incredible Miriam Simmonds. This milestone event brought together voices that are shaping the future of work and advancing meaningful conversations around equity and inclusion.

A special highlight was having our Co-Founder Tanya Sinclair as part of the panel — continuing to lead and inspire through action and dialogue.

We’re deeply grateful to our partners who made this possible:
Nova Scotia Power (an Emera company), CPHR Nova Scotia (Platinum), Marshall Workplace Law, Disrupt Halifax, Crayon Strategies, and Uptree HR.

This is just the beginning for BlackHRPC in Nova Scotia — and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

This month, we would like to focus on mental health awareness following the important conversations highlighted during Canada’s Mental Health Week (May 4–10).

One key takeaway from this year’s theme, “Come Together, Canada: Stronger connections. Better mental health,” was the importance of social connection in reducing loneliness, supporting mental wellbeing, and building healthier communities — especially for youth and individuals experiencing isolation.

As the world slowly gravitates toward more remote and hybrid work environments, there is a growing need for organizations to refine how they approach mental health support in the workplace.

Connection now has to be intentional.
Support systems have to evolve.
And workplace culture must extend beyond physical office spaces.

Creating healthier workplaces in 2026 means building environments where employees still feel connected, seen, supported, and part of a community — regardless of where they work from. 💚

Connection in the workplace looks different today — but it matters more than ever. 💚
What is one thing that helps you feel supported and connected while working remotely or in a hybrid environment?
